Armando L. Macatangay

Visitation Time: All Services will be private.
Interment:

Armando L. Macatangay passed away at his home in Glendale Heights on May 10, 2020, beloved husband for 47 years of Alicia Macatangay (née Paez); devoted father of Sherri (John Giertz) Macatangay and Audrey (Brian Hossler) Macatangay; proud grandfather of Brandon Clements; dear brother of Natividad Magbuhos, Ludivina Barrientos, Celso Macatangay, Flordeliza Macatangay, Luz Velasco, Amador Macatangay, Romeo Macatangay, Reynaldo Macatangay; and son to Raymundo Macatangay and Marcela (née Luna) Macatangay.

Armando was born on February 6, 1939 and moved from the Philippines to the United States in 1973. He worked as an accountant in downtown Chicago and retired as a banker in 2007. Armando was a tennis enthusiast and played for many years. He loved being outside, where he enjoyed gardening and caring for his home. If he wasn’t tending to his plants, he would be out shopping with his family. On any given moment, he loved to listen to music, especially classical music. Once Armando retired, he enjoyed traveling extensively with his wife and closest friends. All who knew Armando knew him as a man with an incredible sense of humor and a contagious laugh. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. Immediate services will be private. A memorial mass at St. Matthew Church will be held at a later date.

We are sorry for our Brother-in-law passing. We are glad that He is in a better place now. Armando is a fun loving & hospitable guy. I could remember when Dikong Lando visited here in Chicago. He took him shopping wherever he wants to go. If Dikong decides to go Back to where he has already been with out hesitation He takes him back not only once or twice with out complaining about it. He is very athletic guy. He love o play Basketball & Tennis once in awhile we play & He always beat me in tennis & try to beat me in badminton in our yard. We are even in Basketball but he just toy with me in tennis . In conclusion: I would like to quote Psalm116:12-19 Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants. God treasures the death of His people for in there death He welcomes them Home.

My condolences. He was such a great friend to the family. My mom’s partner in crime, but also her fall guy. They’re probably up there planning new hijinks. We’ll miss you.

An amazing man has left us! We say goodbye to Kuya Armand who's been a good neighbor to us. One who welcomed us with open arms when we moved to Glendale Heights 20 years ago. His laughter were contagious and enjoyed his dry sense of humor. We sure miss him! Ate Alice and family, thinking of you at this sad time. May the loving memories he left behind will give you peace and comfort as you grieve for his passing. Sincerely, Dave and Celia
