Christine C. Perry, nee Consalvo

Beloved wife of Jon; Loving daughter of Daniel and Alice Consalvo; Devoted sister of Carolyn Consalvo and Connie (Kheneim) Sakleh; Dear daughter-in-law of Jack and Joyce Perry; Fond sister-in-law of Jeff (Jean) Perry, Jay (Hilaine) Perry and Jana (Mike) Izral; Dear aunt of Rena, Hanna, Ian, Madeline, Alex, Adam and great aunt of many; In lieu of flowers donations to Pacreatic Cancer Research at Pancan.org or what Christine would really want is for you to go to a play or a nice dinner and think of her.

Christine was a 48 year resident of Addison and attended Addison School Districts 4 and 88. She was heavily involved in the Theatre and Music Departments at Addison Trail High School. She sang in the Choir and was part of the cast and production crew of four theatre productions, lead roles included Rosie in Bye Bye Birdie and Lucy in You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown. Christine graduated in 1994 from Elmhurst College and earned a Master of Education degree in 2001 from National-Lewis University. Christine taught in Wood Dale School District 7 for 27 years. She married Jon in June of 2004 and they enjoyed summers together as they were both educators, traveling across the United States and to several European destinations.

Christine loved being a teacher, and always created a fun and caring environment for her students. She started teaching music and art on a cart, going from classroom to classroom. After her first year, she taught first grade for 19 years where she taught nearly 400 children to read. She then taught third grade where she discovered that the kids could already zip their own coats. How nice! Last year she was the art teacher for first through fifth grades. She insisted that her room be called the Art Studio. She also worked in other roles at school such as union negotiations and membership, and PTO representative.

Christine enjoyed live theatre and attended over 200 productions over the years and would set a goal per year of productions to attend based on the year it was: if it was 2014 she saw 14, if it was 2015 she saw 15, etc. It was one of her proudest moments to watch her nephew, Adam, perform in theatre productions on the same Addison Trail stage that she did.

Christine loved baking and baked dozens and dozens of different varieties of cookies every Christmas and gift them to family members, packing each type in boxes labeled with her very own “Christina Bella Bakery” labels.  She learned how to make her Grandmother Angeline’s calzone recipe and baked them every year for several lucky family members.

Christine was known as TT to her nephews, Alex and Adam, and loved spending time with them, watching them grow into young men.  She took them on various outings including the zoo, museums, live theatre, attended Alex’s basketball and football games and Adam’s plays, musicals and choir concerts. Her nephews were her princes. Christine has many nieces and nephews, and she loved reading to them. She was very excited to “talk teaching’ with her niece, Maddy, who is becoming a teacher.

Christine was always ready should  a “crafting emergency” arise and always had materials on hand to help her nephews or friends with various school craft projects.  She collected Christmas ornament kits like the ones her Aunt Teresa had on her Christmas tree and assembled several for her mom and sisters over the years.

As an adult Christine joined the DuPage Choral and was a member of the “back row babes”.   She had a love of life, participating in such a wide variety of activities, traveling, furthering her education, archiving family heirlooms displayed in her archive room in her home, adding quotes from family and friends to her “quote book”, and was known as the family historian of her generation, learning so much of her family’s history from her cousin Dominic.

Chrissy Consalvo was a student and a friend. She always enjoyed the fact that we shared the same first name. What love for life she had, and musical talent. Her smile captures her essence. I am devastated to learn of her passing. My condolences to her dear family.

I only knew Chrissy (married to my Friend Jon) since 2013. But she was one of those people that made me feel like I had been her best friend my whole life. In addition to all her other accomplishments and attributes she taught me to make Italian Knot cookies and Sunday Gravy. Enough Said.

Chris was one of my closest friends in high school, and I am heartbroken to hear of her passing. She was astonishingly vibrant, passionate, and talented, as well as being one of the funniest people I ever met. Although we had not been in touch in a number of years, I loved her and am so thankful for the many good times we had together. My deepest condolences to her family and close friends, and I’m sorry that I am not able to attend her visitation. Chris was one of a kind – in the best possible way.

Chrissy - I will miss your enthuastic "Auntie Lindy" greetings and co-writing/singing original hits together like "Cookie Cookie Blue" and "Act Like Your Leavin' ". And of course singing your own rendition of the Martha & The Vandellas song "I can't dance to the music you're playing". We had so many laughs til we cried moments. You were truly one of a kind and not having you among us leaves a huge hole in our hearts. I pray that you are out of pain and suffering and that you are joined by those members of our families that have gone before. Will love you always and forever.

Although we are not biological cousins, we always felt like part of the family, thanks to the love and generosity of your family. Christine was the most loving and giving friend and along with her sisters and parents made us feel like we belonged at family gatherings. You will surely be missed. I know you will be acting and singing in Heaven. Your life was a blessing.
