Captain Liehr was very much like Former Disrict Lieutenant Thomas Mcnamara. If you were at District Headq. You would go out the back door if either of them came into the front door of headq. Very much, Illinois State Police Command. God Bless you Captain Lier.

Dear Chris and Shannon, my condolences to you and your Brothers and the Family. Don was such a nice and gentle man. We had nice conversations on the phone. I call Your Mom every day. She sounds good but lonely ,but that is to be expected. Take care and be safe. Keep me in touch about the services that we can attend. Love Lucy DiNicolo.

I remember Captain Liehr well. He was one of my lieutenants in District 15 in the 1980's. One particular memory I have of him was actually away from work. It was a day spent on a golf course participating in the Illinois Police Olympics. Also present was M/Sgt Tom Reilly who was my cart partner. I don't recall who was Captain Liehr's partner. Pretty sure we were at Plum Tree National Golf Club outside of Harvard, IL. Of course everyone knows a bad day at the golf course always beats a good day at the office. It is a fond memory.
