Edward Pluckebaum, 91, born September 19, 1929 passed away on March 25, 2021 at home.  A longtime resident of Chicago, he was a devoted husband to the late Mary (nee Rybak d. 2015) for 62 years.  Loving father to Diane (Michael) Jankiewicz.  Proud grandfather to Sarah (Jason) May, Stephen (Rachel) Jankiewicz and Daniel Jankiewicz. He was great grandpa to Julia, Jacob, Drake, Dax, and Jonah.

He was preceded in death by his parents Edward Sr. and Rose (Kourimsky) Pluckebaum, niece Rosemarie Pluckebaum, great grandson Joshua and many sisters and brothers in law. He is survived by his brother Robert (Dorothy) Pluckebaum, sister in law Dorothy Lukjanowicz, and many nieces and nephews to whom he was fondly known as Uncle Eddie.

Ed retired as a machine operator for a book binding company in Chicago. He enjoyed playing blackjack at local casinos. Ed loved college football, the Cubs, and Bears. He was an avid fan. He liked watching games on TV, spending time with his grandchildren, and being with family. He terribly missed his beloved Mary. He loved to tell stories about his adventures hitchhiking, flipping trains, and travelling west in his youth. He also shared tales about his exploits on the softball field as a member of the Jivewings with victory celebrations at 1610 tavern. He loved life.

A wake will be held at Salerno’s Funeral Home in Roselle on Sunday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home Monday at 9:30 a.m. for prayers and final viewing.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Bloomingdale Monday at 10:45 a.m. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery in Winfield.
