It is with great sadness that I read the news of Frank. I was at SAIC in the 90’s as a colleague of Frank’s. He taught me a great deal that continues to play out in my daily life. I cannot count the number of times I have thought of Frank and how grateful I am to have known him. My thoughts are with his friends and family and allow me to say that I am a better person as the result of knowing him. Sincerely and respectfully, Kali Nikitas

A phenomenal human, encouraging mentor, an inspiring soul. Feeling so sad he passed with me now learning about it, as l have quietly tipped my hat to this gentle creative coach so many times over the years. Incredibly proud to have called him one of my biggest, truest influencers in my life. May he Rest In Peace, have his memories be eternal & long live the legacy of a man who empowered all people.

I am very sad to find that Frank passed away. I had Frank as my professor my first year and last year at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Frank is a humble man, strong leader, constantly curious and wise. My conversations with Frank always lead back to God and what amazing faith Frank has. I am very thankful to have been taught by one of the best professors of all time and grateful for his presence and teachings. Frank, you are missed and everywhere I go, books that I’ve read, trips down South, will always reminds of you. Thank for being such an exceptional professor, leader, a man of God and living with such humility.

Frank set out to inspire us and encouraged us to learn along the way. His elegance, enthusiasm, and ability to find joy in everything changed my perspective on what it means to be a designer. Thank you Frank. Talks with you were a highlight of my time at SAIC and a foundation for my practice.

Frank was always so kind. When I was first hired by the Visual Communications Department to teach a class, Frank made a point of meeting me and welcoming me into the department. That small human act, typical of Frank’s innate generosity, touched me greatly. I will miss him. We will all miss him. My deepest sympathies to his family, Olivia Petrides

I am heartbroken hearing about Frank's passing. As so many others have said, he was one of those colleagues who I was always so happy to run into - his warmth and sweetness, his caring about everyone around him, his quick, genuine smile and his enjoyment of everything. Thinking of Frank made me remember an event many years ago: I had gotten involved with a lawyer who worked on death row cases, who was looking for art professors to testify on behalf of a young man, sentenced to death, who had been painting in prison. The prosecutors had claimed his work contained secret gang symbols; the lawyer needed professional artists who could attest to the work for its own value. Frank was the only colleague I could find who was willing to make the drive to Joliet with me to testify at the trial. (The young man was later released after a re-trial, and came to visit me several years later with his wife and baby.) Frank was the kind of person who would always help anyone in need if he possibly could. We were so lucky to have had him with us for all those years. My love and deepest condolences go out to Lindsey and all of Frank's family.

I have great memories of Frank as someone who was kind and thoughtful and always ready with a smile and a helping hand during our time working together at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. My best to the De Bose family and friends.

I'm so very sorry for your loss. But may the words of Jesus Christ be able to help ease the pain of losing him in death. How? Well, by having a little Faith and trust in the promises of Gods word the Bible and esp the promises from Jesus Christ, found in John 5:28,29 about a time when he will resurrect ones like him back to life again and to be able to enjoy an endless life, that the Jehovah God promises us all in Psalm 37:29 which says: The righteous will posses the earth and they will live forever on it. So may these words bring a real sense of comfort to your hearts and allow your minds eye to see your selves welcoming him back into your arms again to hold and to cherish forever. And so Visit JW.org to find the many promises of Jehovah God thru Jesus Christ and His Heavenly Kingdom rule, that will end all suffering and take death away forever as He had it written down for us to know, in 1 Corinthains 15:26 which says: And the last enemy, death will be brought to nothing.
