HUGE bummer. I have known Jimmy for 52 years, since I was 16 and I started delivering for him when the restaurant was in River Forest, across the street from what was then the Mercury Theater. I delivered for him throughout my schooling at the University of Illinois Med school, and once I even delivered a pizza for him as a licensed MD, one snowy winter night when I dropped in to visit during my internship. Jimmy said, "Danny, will you run this one out for me, we're stuck." How could I refuse? I gladly delivered the pie. I have often returned to the restaurant when I am in town, to eat, but mostly to see Jimmy. He was a real gentleman and a sweet person, and I am so saddened by his passing. My most sincere condolences to his family, Gerry, Andrea, and his daughters. It will not be the same going to Jim and Pete's, without Jimmy being there.

Shocked and saddened to hear about Jim's passing. Came to know him through the restaurant where he always treated us like family. He will be greatly missed! May he rest in peace.
