Just learned of Joe’s passing. Joe has been cutting my hair for over fifty years. He was a wonderful man who always remembered all the details of my life. He was truly as close as family. Thoughts are with Joe’s family. A great guy!

I’m so sad to hear about Joe’s passing. He was my barber for 20 or so years until we moved out of the area. He was the best barber I ever had! He was a warm and wonderful person. He will be missed.

Joe has been cutting my hair for more years than I care to remember. Over that time, he became a good friend, with whom I traded stories and commentaries on life. I miss my friend.

Joe Burghardt was not only a master at his craft-you walked into his barbershop in need of his expertise and walked out looking like a million bucks- but more importantly Joe was a master of what really matters in life-to treat each person with dignity, respect, warmth and kindness. He possessed an affable personality and always wore a winning smile. He will be sorely missed. As the poet wrote” He has achieved success who lives well, laughs often and loves much. Who gains the respect of intelligent human beings and the love of small children. Who always looks for the best in others and gives the best he has. Whose life to his family was an inspiration and whose remembrance will be a benediction. “ That was our Joe!! May his soul rest in peace.

Joe had cut my hair (and my late father's) for at least 45 years. He knew and remembered my family members, and it was always great to have a chance to talk with him. I don't recall having another barber. He gave my son his first haircut 37 years ago! When my father was almost immobile, he still insisted that I take him to see Joe for his haircut, and of course, Joe did whatever he could to accomodate him. I will miss him as a friend and a part of our extended family. Condolences to the family.

Our sincere condolences to Joes family. May his memory be a blessing for many. Joe was a hard working master of his craft for many years. Had the most loyal customers, always a smile, some conversation with friendliness. He enjoyed his business, co workers and friends. May he Rest In Peace. Barry Bass, former Mayor of Lincolnwood and neighbor.

Dearest JoGil and Joe's children, Joey and Lisa: Though I've known Joe through our childhood as we went through grade school together and we lived in the Chicago Avenue neighborhood all of our youth, I have only in the past 8 years really gotten to know him as an adult after he became a member of our family. I can tell you that I feel very fortunate to have gotten to know Joe as a genuinely good man. He was caring, considerate and loving and would do anything he could to help anyone. It is hard to express how much respect I had for Joe and to say that I am very sad to lose him because there are very few people we come to know and have in our lives who are truly as kind and caring and most of all, genuine as Joe Burghardt was. He is and will be truly missed. Rest with the angels Joe, it is where you belong!

I've known Joe my entire life. I have many great memories of him. In Lake Geneva I locked myself in the upstairs bathroom (the powder room) and Joe had to climb up the ladder to climb thru the window to get me out. Joe wasn't a big dog lover which was only funny because our dog loved him and only wanted to sit with him. Great father, husband and friend to all. He brought joy to the many lives he touched. Joe you will be missed greatly. RIP
