After a year and a half of enduring painful treatments and agonizing symptoms, Jose D. Gramata’s fight with cancer has come to an end. He drew his last breath and was finally able to rest on May 30th, 2021, at 7:57 AM. Jose was a loving husband, dedicated father, a patient brother, a wonderful uncle, and a loyal friend. He was a man of few words, but his actions spoke volumes of how much he loved his family and friends. Time after time he was faced with daunting tasks, but not once did anyone ever hear him complain. Instead, he dove headfirst into the challenge with nothing but his big smile and contagious enthusiasm. Jose made sure that anyone who entered his home would leave with a full stomach and left the door open so they knew that they were welcome to come back for seconds. It was that sincerity and wholeheartedness that allowed him to live inside the heart of anyone he met. The days prior to his passing, he would continuously tell his children “Always love each other. Never hurt your loved ones, always compromise.” This was the kind of life Jose lived. He never hurt his loved ones and he never raised his voice. He compromised with everyone, allowing both sides to benefit, which led to continuous love. This purity is what makes Jose so unforgettable. Mr. Gramata, Tito Boy, Tito BoyScout, Boyet, Lolo Boy, Dad, Pops, Mahal (nickname that was used only between Jose and wife, Nerissa, which means “My Love”) . These are a few names of many that were used to address Jose. Whatever name you used to address Jose D. Gramata, hold onto it, as well as the memories you have of him, because he lives inside us all forever.
