Joseph Mariottini passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning. He was born and raised in a small Italian village in Tuscany called Quarata. He lived with his mother and father, (Guido and Gina), along with his twin siblings Antonio and Antonietta in a small mill that had been converted into a house. After the War, in 1950, Joe emigrated to the United States as a student. He moved in with his uncle Francesco. He attended the University of Illinois followed by many jobs to get started in his new life. He met his wife, Sandra, in 1953 at an event at the Como Inn. In January 1954 they married and had seven children, Maria, Michael(Laura), Guido(Susan), Barbara, Jeffrey (Donna), Lora (JJ) and Sandra. The Mariottini family would continue to grow having 10 grandkids: Christa, Carina, Bianca, Elena, Cole, Weston, Spencer, Alessandra, Luca and Joe. He started and grew a successful contracting company, Etruscan Builders, building everything from custom homes to large hotels. He had a reputation for honesty. He loved spending time outdoors, and loved just being with family and friends, joking, and of course, eating. In 1971 we moved into our house in Addison, which Joe built. We have fifty years of memories in that house. There were numerous holiday celebrations, parties, BBQs, and so many special moments in the company of family and friends. This house became the anchor of Joe’s family. We are filled with happy memories of our large and noisy family. He instilled in all of us the importance of family, hard work, strong values and a sense of pride. We loved our father very much, and we will miss him dearly. This young immigrant from Italy came here with nothing and built a memorable life–His life was a great adventure filled with love. Visitation will be held Monday, October 11, 2021 from 3PM until 8PM at Salerno Rosedale Chapel 450 West Lake Street, Roselle, Illinois. Friends are asked to meet Tuesday, 10AM October 12,2021 at St. Philip the Apostle Church for Mass followed by entombment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joseph’s memory can be made to St. Jude’s Children Research.
