Joseph Gudella of Bloomingdale passed away unexpectedly on March 27, 2023.

Joe was a dedicated Police Officer who served with pride. He began his career in 2015 with the Cook County Sheriff’s Office, and more recently joined the Batavia Police in January 2022. During his time as an Officer, Joseph made a lasting impact on his peers and the community. Joseph was a gentle giant, known for his happy and kind nature, and his devotion to his family was unmatched. As a child, he dreamed of having a family of his own and was overjoyed when his daughter Audrey and son Jack were born. He was an enthusiastic Chicago Sports fan and enjoyed outdoor activities and adventures, but nothing gave him greater joy than being surrounded by family and friends.

Joseph is survived by his loving wife, Valerie; his children Audrey and Jack; his parents Wolf and Lynn; his siblings Tom (Laura) and Elizabeth (Justin); his nieces and nephews Albert, Annie, Bree, and Russell, and many more Aunts and Uncles, Cousins, and friends.

A memorial service will be held in Joe’s honor on Friday, March 31st from 3-9pm at Salerno’s Rosedale Chapel, located at 450 W. Lake Street, Roselle, Illinois. Family and friends are invited to express their condolences and share memories of Joe.

Donations can be made to Joe’s Wife and Children on their GoFundMe page: https://www.gofundme.com/f/fundraiser-for-officer-joe-gudellas-family

My heart is broken for Joe's family. I worked with Joe at Brust Funeral Home. He had the biggest heart for his family, friends. I can say I became a better person knowing Joe, being able to work beside him and to call him my friend. I stumbled upon what words to express how sad and upset I am for his wife, children, parents, brother, sister. I am so very sorry, Charmaine Reiter
