Katherine ( Kay ) Kornacker of Bartlett ( formerly of Arlington Heights) passed
away on May 18, 2020. Kay was born in Chicago, IL on July 4, 1929; the daughter
of Jacob and Katherine (nee Mathias) Schnur. The youngest of five children she
was preceded in death by Ann Schnur, Andrew Schnur, Irene Schnur & Jacob
Schnur. Along with many dear family and friends Kay is reunited with her true
soul mate, her late husband John Joseph Kornacker. She is once again complete
and probably dancing.
Kay is survived by her children John D. & Patty Kornacker; Janet & Joe van
Leeuwen. Her grandchildren, Liz (Dan) Napper, Christie (Mike) Wereski, Jackie
Kornacker, Kevin (Rosa) Lopez-van Leeuwen, Mark van Leeuwen, Kimberly van
Leeuwen and Michele van Leeuwen. Her great grandchildren, Miles Wereski,
Graham Wereski, Olivia Napper, Jovanni Sandoval, John van Leeuwen and Emily
van Leeuwen.
As the head of the Primary Learning Center at Juliet Low Elementary School, many
refer to her as their favorite teacher. Kay loved her career. She loved music,
theater, swimming, horses, boating and traveling. She was a very devoted fan of
the Cubs and the Bulls. But most of all she loved her family. Each grandchild has
such specific and wonderful memories of her. Kay knew their hearts and souls.
