Linda Ohlson (nee Colbert), beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away September 2nd, 2022 at her home in Elk Grove Village, Illinois after a long battle with illness at the age of 65.

A kind and generous soul, Linda always put the needs of others before her own.

Born April 29th, 1957 in Chicago to William and Florence Colbert (nee Plath), Linda grew up in Des Plaines and attended Maine West High School. The daughter of a pilot, Linda enjoyed aviation and would occasionally fly small planes out of Schaumburg airport.

Linda worked as an administrator for various manufacturing and logistics companies. She met her beloved husband Michael at work in 1981. They married in 1986.

Whether they were gardening, cooking, eating her favorite Dairy Queen while watching Hallmark Christmas movies, or riding around in the Mustang, Linda most enjoyed spending time with her Mike. She loved the sun and lounging in the pool at home or at the beach at her favorite vacation spot, Treasure Island, Florida.

Linda was a proud and loving mom to her sons Perry and Matthew. She never missed a baseball or football game. The ultimate listener, Mom was always there to lend support and guidance whenever she was needed.

Linda cherished being a grandmother to Sydney and Piper. She loved attending their dance recitals and spoiling them the way only grandmothers can.

Auntie Linda took great pride in hosting family holidays and gatherings and ensured everyone was happy and fed. She was loved dearly by her brother William and sister Lisa and her nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Late in life, Linda battled multiple serious illnesses. She continued to fight and was determined to gain the most out life. The strength, grace and positive attitude in which she handled life’s challenges is an inspiration that will live on in memory.

Memorial services for Linda will be held Saturday, September 10th from 3 to 9PM at Salerno’s Rosedale Chapels Roselle, Illinois.

Linda was preceded in death by grandmother Florence Plath, grandmother Helga Colbert, parents William and Florence Colbert (nee Plath), uncle Bud (Florence) Plath, uncle Jim Plath, aunt June (John) Dietrich, nee Colbert, and niece Samantha Howard.

Linda is survived by her husband Michael, sons Perry (Jennifer) Ohlson and Matthew Ohlson, granddaughters Sydney and Piper, brother William (Susan) Colbert of Elk Grove Village, Illinois, sister Lisa Stumpfoll, nee Colbert of Lake Como, Wisconsin, nieces Sarah, Mina, Lauren and Dana, nephews William, David and Trevor, Cousin Daniel (Lianne) Plath and beloved Uncle Norbert Gajaski.

To my dear friend Linda, I know how lucky I have been to have had you in my life. I will forever cherish the time we got to spend together...the time you helped me pick out a dress for a friend's wedding, the time you made lasagna for me because you knew it was my favorite, the time you took a picture of me in a Cubs t-shirt sitting in Mike's chair just so I could taunt him later (twice), the times we made one more trip to the store to make sure everyone else would have an extra special Christmas, the times we'd pick veggies from the your beautiful garden...I'll miss our gal pal time where we gabbed about anything and everything. Most of all, I'll miss your sweet smile and laugh. You were such a light to so many people, always so caring and thoughtful and forever thinking of others. Thank you for everything, I already miss you tremendously.

Very sorry for the loss of such a sweet lady. She fought a long and arduous battle to be here for her husband, children, grandchildren and friends. Thanks for the link to her favorite charity. We have contributed in her memory.

Linda’s smile and happy personality is something we all could learn from. I would often run into her in Walmart or other local stores and she would always say hi and ask about my family. It didn’t matter how she was feeling, she never complained, even when asked how she was. Linda was always a positive person, someone I’m proud to call a friend! You will be missed! Sandy Danek
