What a fine lady. The smile that would melt your heart. Sat across the aisle at Church and always had a great feeling for her and her family. God Bless.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Calabrese family during this trying time. I didn't know Marie personally but feel like I did from the numerous things and stories Jerry has relayed over the 30+ years we've been friends. She was a wonderful mother, wife and person, and will be dearly missed.

When I went back to Chicago for the wedding of Richard Calabrese’s son Kevin, May 2014, Marie didn’t seem to remember me. But, as I wrote to Jerry Calabrese, she was a favorite aunt of my childhood; We visited her at the 33rd Avenue house every Saturday. I learned to drink coffee at her table, got chubby on her cakes and cookies, still have the recipe for farina pie in her handwriting. Christmas Eve at her house was an extraordinary family feast. I would confide in her when I couldn’t tell my parents things. When I announced on the phone that I had a book coming out, (2012), she said, “Oh, I don’t need to read it. I just want to be able to tell people my niece is a published author.” May she be enjoying time in heaven with my Dad and Mom (Joe and Carm), my Auntie Ange and Uncle Nick...I had a very happy childhood because of these extraordinary relatives.
