Mario's passing was such a surprise! We just served mass with him Saturday night. The loss of this man is one that will take a long time to sink in. His smile and friendly, happy face was always a joy and he always had a positive outlook. Mario was a great cook who's love for food was obvious in the meals he prepared. RIP, our friend. You're already greatly missed.

Since moving to Florida in May 2013, I have not been back to visit the Chicagoland area. I am very saddened to hear of Mario's passing. All of my memories are so many and very good ones from when I first met him when he just started dating Carol in 1973 when we lived in Glen Ellyn. I was only 10 years old at the time. Everything from the Italian Feasts in Melrose Park, to their new 2 story flat in Stone Park, to their home in Addison. All of the nice family get togethers. I wont forget when I was 13 years old my first part time job ever was when I went on Saturday and Sunday with my brother Ron, who was cashiering at the 7-11 on Army Trail. Mario put me to work there stuffing newspapers, cutting the grass and pulling weeds. It was hard work but fun and I took it to heart because I thought it was so cool that my uncle owned the joint and he appreciated my hard work. At that time Mario even let me have free slurpees. It is those things that I will remember forever. The other thing that will always stick with me is the sense of belonging and family especially when we stopped having Christmas Day at our house and Carol started doing Christmas at her house. The big snow village, the delicious food and sitting on the couch while in a food coma after dinner gazing at the Christmas tree. You know there was so many good times that I will always take to heart, too many to mention here especially the birthday gatherings and special family events. All of us has a way of dealing with personal grief and tragedy, coping mechanisms mind you. The passing of others in our family, Grandma and Grandpa LaPasso, Aunt Marge, Aunt Kay and Uncle Bill, Aunt Mary, Aunt Grace, Aunt Minnie and Uncle Frank, Aunt Mae and Uncle Dom, my grandparents Claude and Amelia Cimino and my cousin Ricky and Aunt Ang Cimino and Delores and Raymond Zaabel. All very good people, all very different and everyone of these people touch me in a very special way. As I have gotten older I have come to the understanding and belief that God has a reason for everyone and everything that occurs and it is up to each of us to accept and trust in Gods plan. That is what will get all of us thru this and other sad events in our own lives and the people that our very dear to us. Mario and Carol have always been very good and fair to me and we have shared many good times together and I will always be very greatful that I was invited into their home and made part of that. Mario knows me inside and out even though I have not seen him in many years since moving away to Florida, it's like not a day has passed. I would like all of his family to know, Carol, Mary, Joey, Anne Marie and Gina that my thoughts and prayers will always be with you. Thank you Mario for letting me be able to know you and to let me be part of your family. My deepest sympathy Tom Cimino

Mario was the gentlest of human beings, always a smile on his face, never a cross word. He was so proud of his family, his business and to be an American citizen. He worked tirelessly and never complained. His spirit, his life, his enthusiasm will be missed but forever cherished. May Carol, his children and family find comfort in having had this wonderful man and the many memories he created . Mario, I will miss you.

Thank you Uncle Mario for always being there for us. It would take a 100 years to list all that you've done for the family and even then something would be missed. We love you and you will be missed dearly.
