Mary L. Alongi

Mary L. Alongi, nee Gurrieri, age 99, born in Chicago, IL, died peacefully on September 13th. Beloved wife of the late Paul J., proud mother of Paul and James (Kathy); dear sister of Josephine Knackstedt, the late Sue Fox, John Gurrieri, and Carmen Gurrieri. Loving grandmother of eight, Christopher (Char), Michael (Katie), Peter (Jamie), Paul (Morgan), Lisa Iliff (Trent), Richard (Melissa), David (Kim), and James Alongi; and fourteen great-grandchildren, Jackie, Dominic, Angelina, Mariana, Valerie, PJ, Taylor, Nicholas, Giuliana, Maren, Oliver, Gianna, Genevieve, and Vincent. Dear aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Mary enjoyed her last twelve years in Bloomingdale close to her family. She passed on her love of family and cooking by teaching the next generations her special pasta sauce with meatballs, pizzelles, pizza bread, kolacky’s and homemade jelly. As we carry on these traditions, Mom will always be remembered with love as we gather with our families.
Visitation at Salerno’s Funeral Home,450 W. Lake St., Roselle, IL. Sunday, September 16th, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass Monday, 10:45am, St. Isidore Church, 427 W. Army Trail Rd., Bloomingdale, IL. Graveside services at Mount Carmel Cemetery, luncheon to follow.
