Our mother, ROSARIO “ROSS” SEBASTIAN GUERRA, born on October 22, 1928 in Lubao, Pampanga, Philippines, went home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on May 30, 2021 in Carol Stream, Illinois, USA.

Mommy Ross was the:

DEVOTED OLDER SISTER of Juanita “NITS” Sebastian delos Reyes of Malagapas, Cotabato City, Philippines and sister of the late Maxima IMAY Manganti of Lubao, Pampanga, Mario Sebastian, Dorotea TEANG Sebastian, Justo Sebastian, Milagros MILA Tecson of Chicago, Illinois and Victoria VICKY Barga.
BELOVED SISTER-IN-LAW of her late husband’s sister Celia (Guerra) & Jesse Sucaldito of Las Vegas, Nevada.
AFFECTIONATE, RESPECTED & WARM-HEARTED ATE (older sister), TITA (aunt), COUSIN, LOLA (grandma) & FRIEND to so many…

Her parents Laureano Ramirez Sebastian & Margarita Coronel Sebastian were from Hagonoy, Bulacan but moved to Lubao, Pampanga where Mommy Ross was born.

When she was 18, right after WWII, her entire family transferred to Cotabato City, Philippines. It took a 2-month boat ride to reach Cotabato City on August 28, 1948.

There she met her future husband. On September 25, 1954, DADDY SENY & MOMMY ROSS got married, started their family that produced us, their five children, all born & raised in Cotabato City.

They remained there until 1991 when they relocated to Chicago to be with daughter Cynthia, who just gave birth to daughter ALEXA & needed most especially Mom’s loving presence.

Dad & Mom settled here in Chicago until their passing – Dad on Nov. 18, 2011 and Mom on May 30, 2021.

Mom’s presence will always be felt, her memories always remembered through the legacy she left us…

She was a great example of a loving, devoted & loyal daughter, wife, mother, sister, cousin & friend. Her generosity, in words & resources, served as a trademark for who she was.

Dad & Mom were married for 57 years. Dad was the great provider for our family but Mom was as equally a great budgeteer. Mom led our home with integrity, discipline, and more. All the virtues she practiced were aimed at making Dad’s life better, teaching us, her children, and serving God. She managed our household diligently, making whatever Dad brought home flourished. We had a well-ran home – we found ourselves lacking nothing. As children, we were taught values & morals that made us into who we are today. Love, that Mom propagated, was abounding in our family.

She was a faithful steward of the resources the Lord gave her. Whatever the Lord blessed her with, she made sure a tithe of it went back to the Lord. Not only was she a tither, she was also a cheerful giver and faithful supporter of God’s ministry, that was why up until the very end of her life, she was able to give back what belongs to God! The Bible says that we can never out give the Lord. During her lifetime, the Lord has been faithful to her in all areas of her life. God has blessed her with a long and full life. She received preferential treatment, both from God and men.

She had a positive outlook in life. We never heard her complained about things, though difficult and inconvenient they were. Whenever she was admitted to the hospital because of her stomach bleeding due to diverticulosis, she would tell us that she had to be at the hospital because she needed to share the Word of God. When the doctors or anyone asked her how she was, her answer was always, “ALL IS WELL,” no matter how she was feeling! That was how Mom dealt with her medical conditions. She believed in the power of declaration and indeed, the Lord honored her declarations!

In the end, Mom went home as she lived her life… surrounded by her family, friends and most especially, the Word of God which was very present in her. Even in her weakened & semi-conscious state, she was mouthing (reciting soundlessly) her favorite verses… Our brother David played one of her favorite songs, AMAZING GRACE. As the last note played, Mom breathed her last…

Thank you Mom. We love you! We will miss you!

Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me will live, even though they die; and those who live and believe in me will never die.” (John 11:25-26)
