Steven (Steve) Douglas Meyers was born to Steven and Priscilla (Maciejewski) Meyers in
Amherst, New York, December 9 th , 1974. After Steven’s biological father’s death Steven was
adopted by Priscilla’s second husband in marriage, Scott Christian Alvik. It was Steven’s desire
at the time of his adoption (age 8) to change his name to Steven Christian Alvik.
Throughout Steven’s lifetime he called various states home. Never the one to sit still for very
long his life journey took him from New York to Northern California, Southern California, Illinois,
New Jersey, Florida, and eventually back to Illinois which he recognized as home despite the
cold winters.
Steven flourished as a carpenter taking on remodeling jobs and creating beautiful one-of-a-kind
pieces of furniture using reclaimed wood as his medium of choice. His talent was recognized by
many, and he always had time to help anyone out in need. His heart was huge.
As his journey in life continued true love touched his heart and in June 2021, he proposed to
Kelly Deering asking her to become his wife. He was giddy with excitement as the proposal
drew near, and everyone in his circle of family and friends who were privy to his secret knew
that Steven was deeply in love with Kelly.
Their September 24 th , 2022, wedding will never come to be due to Steven’s untimely death that
literally soared his soul to heaven on Sunday, August 7 th , 2022. His huge heart of love and talent
that gave unconditionally throughout his life failed to thrive that morning.
Steven passed away in Naperville, Illinois Sunday, August 7 th , 2022, at the age of 47. Steven was
proceeded in death by his biological Father Steven Douglas Meyers, Grandfather Roy Meyers,
Grandfather Theodore and Eleanore (Skarupinski) Maciejewski of New York, and Aunt Ilonka
Judy Maciejewski of California. Steven is survived by his Mother Priscilla Anne Alvik, Father
Scott and Danielle (O’Connor) Alvik, their children Christian and Brooke of New Jersey; Steven’s
half-sister Jen (Bombala) and Kevin Martin, and their children Aiden, and Addison of New York;
Grandmother Sandra Galante of New York, Uncle Terry and Sandra Brands of New York, Aunt
Sherry Brands of North Carolina, Grandmother Josephine Meyers of New York, Uncle Griffin
and Keely (Hill) Meyers of Seattle Washington, Aunt Leslie Meyers of New York, Uncle Ted
Maciejewski of California, Uncle Chuck, and Dawn (MaKosky) Maciejewski of New York, many
cousins, a family of friends and the love of his life fiancée Kelly Deering, and her family.
Honoring Steven’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded with Salerno’s Rosedale Chapel.
The family encourages everyone who attends Steven’s Celebration of Life Memorial to wear
causal jeans, colorful clothing, sneakers, or sandals.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Steven’s family.

I have a heavy heart tonight to read this news. Steven and I were very close once upon a time. Although our lives took us on seperate journeys, I love him dearly and always made it a point of checking on him on Priscills FB page. I will forever remember and treasure Steven and all the amazing memories he gave me. I send prayers to Priscill and all who hold him dear in their hearts. Our footprints will always mark a special time in my life. RIP Steven. Your friend Odalys

I met Steve at Packys in Lighthouse Point upon his arrival to SFLA. I was with a friend of mine and Steve that night became our friend. We spent several months boating, beaching and having a lot of fun. He helped my daughter and I move twice, the last time from DFB to Jax. I had orientation the day we arrived in Jax and when I returned, everything I owned was in my apartment. He was one of the strongest men I’ve known! I was so grateful for all he did, he was the only one we could count on... he will forever be missed and thought of daily. May his loving and fun spirit of life be with us all! Condolence being sent to all!! God speed Steve... see you again
