Walter “Wally” J. Nagel, son of Frank Nagel and Emily (Kuhs) Nagel was born on September 21, 1925 in Chicago, IL. He and his two sisters June (the late Alfred) Schubkegel and the late Dorothy Alejandra were orphaned as small children, being cared for by relatives. At the age of 9 moved to Concordia’s German Lutheran Orphanage in Addison where he stayed until he turned 14. He attended Concordia for high school and spent summers learning the farming trade in Missouri. He attended college prior to being drafted to proudly serve in the Army Air Corp as a ball turret gunner during WWII.
After returning from the war, Wally met the love of his life Beatrice Noer. They were blessed with 68 years of marriage and cherished the time spent with his five wonderful children, 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was a passionate, forgiving man who loved his family fiercely and did all he could to take care of each and every one of them.
Wally and Bea were faithful members of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Chicago. He served on the Church Council, and as a member of Couples club where they found many lifelong friends. His favorite pastime was fishing with family and friends, anytime and anywhere.
On January 23rd, 2022, at the age of 96, after a long bout with cancer, Wally peacefully passed into the loving arms of his Savior. He will be greatly missed, yet we rejoice in the Lord Jesus Christ who conquered death for us by His death and resurrection. Because He lives, we too will live.

Our condolences on the passing of Mr. Nagel. I have known "Pa" Nagel since Wally and I met in 74. Got to know Mrs. Nagel and family too. They both were very warming to me and when I got married, they were wonderful to my family as well. We were always welcomed in their Chicago home, Schafer Lake and in Hickory. In fact, think about this; Where can you get your taxes done and have the kids at the "waterpark" in their home! How cool was that. Mr. Nagel always had that smile working. Really seemed to enjoy wherever he was. "Pa Nagel" shared his views on business and really stressed his wisdom on me. I looked up to him as there weren't many guys I met that could tell a story or talk about business like he could. When I was opening my business, he spoke to me as if I were his own on what I should do. The one thing he told which is forever ingrained in my mind is "You may be the best pressman around but today, you will need to learn how to become a business owner. You are still married to your wife but you now will forever be tied to your accountant, lawyer & banker". Great Humor... Wonderful advise! Without it, I may not have succeed. I have and will continue to share this with anyone who may be starting a venture. His words will live on. Mr. Nagel, your story(s) will live on forever. Thank you "Pa" for your guidance. You were the best. You will be missed.
