Areathne (Ottie) Taylor, nee Demetrius, 91, died at her home in Glen Ellyn, IL, on October 13, 2021. She was born on February 11, 1930.

Beloved wife of Harold Lloyd Taylor; loving mother of Tom, Drew, Bill, and Steve; proud grandmother of Courtney, Tom, Sean, and Bill Jr.; dear sister of the late Christine Chambers, the late John Demetrius, the late Andrew Demetrius, the late Socrates Demetrius, Mary Mettevelis, and George Demetrius.

On June, 9, 1953, she married Harold Lloyd Taylor in Clearwater, Florida, and together they raised four sons.

She is survived by her sons Thomas, Drew, and Steven, along with her sons’ wives, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold Lloyd and her son Bill. Pamela Taylor was her dear daughter-in-law, close friend, and caregiver during the final years of her life.

Ottie was a delightful person, generous, kind, always loving. She was known in the neighborhood as Mom Taylor. You were a guest on your first visit to her home; after that, you were automatically family and the refrigerator was open. Mom was always available with a listening ear for you to share your heart.

She taught by example—she loved without question, helped without reward, and lived without remorse. To know her was to love her. In the words of George Eliot: “Our dead are never dead to us, until we have forgotten them.” Ottie Taylor was deeply loved and will never be forgotten.

Funeral services will take place at Salerno’s Rosedale Chapel, 450 W. Lake Street, Roselle, IL, October 30 at 1:30 p.m., viewing beginning at 11:00 a.m. Flowers can be sent to Salerno’s Rosedale Chapel.
