Carole Walsh (Auntie Carole) was born and raised in Chicago and more recently lived in Skokie and Bloomingdale. She passed away peacefully in Winfield, IL.
Carole worked for many years as a Chicago Public School teacher, dedicating her life to enriching the lives of others.
Carole was the most generous and thoughtful person around. In addition to spoiling her family by sending money for every birthday, anniversary, and holiday, she donated money to hundreds of charities.
Carole loved the simple things in life- phone calls with loved ones, Bingo with family, hot bowls of homemade soup, watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, and reminiscing with her brother for hours on end.
Carole was exceptionally kind. She made everyone feel good because every art project was beautiful, every gift given to her was amazing, every new hairstyle was gorgeous. She was always genuinely happy for others and inspired everyone who knew her to be better and kinder.
Carole will forever be remembered for her kindness and generosity, and her love for and loyalty to her family. She was a selfless human being who touched the lives of so many. She was the glue that held the family together and a light that guided, warmed, and shined.
Carole was truly one of a kind and her family finds peace knowing she is an angel in heaven watching over them, surrounded by others lost too soon.
In leaving behind her loved ones, not a day will go by in which a story isn’t shared, a smile not smiled, and a tear not shed. Forever in our hearts, gone but not forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the National Scleroderma Foundation, in memory of Kathleen Heilig, or Parkinson’s Disease research, in the memory of Allen Heilig, because that’s what Carole would want.
