Raymond J. Timm, aged 79, of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, passed away on May 8, 2023. Ray was born to John and Katherine Timm on April 1, 1944, in Detroit, Michigan. He was a talented student, coach, and financial professional who loved helping others. He served in the Army Reserves and graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy and was proud of a long career at Beecher Peck and Lewis, Mead Corporation, and Financial Consultants Group. He was also a true sports enthusiast and spent much of his life following various sports and teams, from the Tigers and Lions in Detroit to the Bears, Bulls, Blackhawks, Cubs, and White Sox in Chicago. His enthusiasm and sports knowledge extended far beyond that of the casual fan and he was known to place a friendly wager or two over the years. Ray was a dedicated and caring father who not only prioritized his work but also made time for his sons and their extracurricular activities. This included coaching his sons’ little league baseball and basketball teams and teaching life lessons along the way. He was a proud father that spoke of his sons and their families often and lovingly welcomed new people into his life like family. Once his sons grew up and left home, Ray and Diane were gifted a cat and would eventually adopt three more cats. He became a lover of cats and the cats were great companions for him, especially in his retirement years. Ray was preceded in death by his father John, mother Katherine, brother Michael, and sister Mary Anne. He is survived by his wife Diane of fifty years, his children Michael (Alicia nee Stephens) Daniel (DeeDee Jashari), and John (Emily nee Homer), his grandchildren Charlie, Lorelei, McKinley, Lincoln, and Ray, and his sister Kathleen. Ray’s family will host a memorial service on Saturday, May 20, 2023, from 12-4 pm. The service will be held at Salerno’s Rosedale Chapels in Roselle, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to DuPage Animal Friends in Ray’s name at https://www.dupageanimalfriends.org/capitalcampaign.html.
