Robert Gonzalez

Visitation Time: All Services are Private
Interment:

Robert Gonzalez, age 61, of Elmhurst IL passed away on May 23rd, 2020 after fighting a long, hard battle against Covid-19. He was born to Mary L. Gonzalez (Sanchez) and Antonio D. Gonzalez on April 27th, 1959 in Chicago IL. He graduated from Proviso West High School and maintained a career in maintenance management.

Robert is survived by his beautiful wife of 14 years, Martha Lorena Gonzalez; his two children Frank (Brittany) Gonzalez and Felicia (Kurt) Gonzalez, and by his siblings, Stella Roumas, Anthony (Mary) Gonzalez, Mary Lou (James) Carlan, and Alphonso (Wendy) Gonzalez. Robert also leaves behind two young grandsons, Austin Gray Gonzalez and Raylan Patrick Robert Gonzalez. He was a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews.

First and foremost, Robert loved his family. He was always there to care for both of his parents and was an awesome brother to his siblings. He dedicated his life to caring for the people he loved, at all times. Robert was the best husband and cherished every moment he spent with the love of his life, Lorena. Frank and Felicia were his pride and joy, there was nothing in this world he loved more than his kids. He extended this pride when their families grew and welcomed in Brittany and Kurt as if they were his own. The proudest days of his life were when he welcomed his first grandson Austin, and his second Raylan. Robert was the true example of a hard worker. As a kid, he had a paper route, he would fold the newspapers, put them into a big cloth bag, wrap it around his butterfly handle bars and take off to deliver them. Him and his brothers, Tony and Al, would start small side businesses like Gunz Construction Co., working on home remodeling and even snow removal. He was always a cherished employee throughout his career and loved by many.

Robert had the kindest heart. He was always the person anyone could call if they needed anything. There was never a problem he couldn’t figure out. He was always the first person there to help. He loved to take pictures and videos of his loved ones and always had a camera in his hand. He will be missed immensely by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege to know him.

Friends and family may visit at Salerno’s Rosedale Chapel, 450 Lake St., Roselle, IL, Thursday, May 28th from 3:00pm- 9:00pm.
