Val was born in Poland in 1924. She survived the Nazi occupation, found her way to the United States with her young daughter Josephine and created a new life in the post WW II timeframe. Her initial years were spent with her friend Janie who had already immigrated from Germany. Josephine and Vincent Domino invited Val to live with them. Grandma Josephine enjoyed having little Josie in the kitchen while she cooked and baked. In many ways she was a mother to Val. Eventually she married their son William Domino on August 21 1950. They established a foothold in the Chicago area. She found employment at Osbourne Glove Company and Motorola. They welcomed the birth of their daughter Ann in 1953. Val enjoyed a long career and retired from Motorola – Franklin Park, Illinois. Val was an amazing cook, gardener, impeccable homemaker and supporter of every stray cat or dog that would find their way to her home. She loved all creatures great and small. In later years, she assisted her daughter Ann with establishing their new residences in Indiana, South Carolina and California. She was a tireless worker and enjoyed the fruits of her labor. Eventually she welcomed her granddaughter Lauren and also her two great-grandsons Ashton and Carter. Val completed her life under the loving care of her daughter Josephine in Lombard, Illinois. She enjoyed the garden, feeding birds, squirrels, chipmunks and other wildlife that visited, while enjoying the view from the large picture window. She was a fighter to the end of her 97 years on Earth. We will miss her love, kindness, generosity, unselfish behavior and spicy personality! She was never too busy or tired to render assistance. Her cute Polish accent, view on life and her fighting spirit will forever live in our hearts.
