Audrey Sotos

Visitation Date: Saturday, November 6, 2021
Visitation Time: Memorial Visitation 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon
Interment: Private

Audrey (nee Royster) Sotos, 93, passed away peacefully in the presence of her loving sons on November 1, 2021. Audrey entered the world on October 28, 1928 as the youngest of three daughters born to the late Ernest and Inez Royster (Gray). Audrey was predeceased by her husband, Gus (d. 1982), her daughter, Bonnie Zona (d. 2020) and grandson Alan Zona (d. 2020); her parents Ernest and Inez; and her sisters, Jean and Bev. She is survived by her three sons Jim, Peter and George, six grandchildren, Mark (Karin), Tommy, Christian, Danny, Jimmy and Alex; two great-grandsons, Hunter and Jacob, her son-in-law Alan, and her three daughters-in-law, Katy, Tracey and Nancy.
To say that Audrey was beloved by her family and friends does injustice to the depth of their reverence for her. Throughout her long and very healthy life Audrey quietly exemplified all that is good in people; from her unconditional love of and commitment to her family and friends, her intellectual curiosity, her razor wit that kept everyone around her endlessly laughing, and her compassionate nature. Audrey was one of those rare souls who had no enemies, no critics and not a single detractor. She was unfailingly humble and getting her to talk about herself was next to impossible, but she would insist on knowing every detail and celebrating every accomplishment of all of her family members and friends. Above all, Audrey was vigorously independent, possessive of an enviable and adventurous spirit and insisted of her family members that they live life to the fullest and relentlessly pursue their dreams, whatever the odds. She recently said she was anxious to be reunited with her husband, Gus, whom she has missed since he passed on 39 years ago.
A service will be held for Audrey from 10:30 am until noon on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Salerno’s Galewood Chapels, 1857 N. Harlem Avenue, Chicago, Illinois, 60707, just a few blocks from the home where she and Gus raised their three sons during what she always described as the happiest of years. She will be forever loved, cherished and missed.

I never met anyone quite like Audrey. She was consistent in being a kind, warm, intelligent, and fun loving human. You will be missed by me and anyone graced with being close to you. Go with God and remain forever in our hearts.
