To the Randazzo family, I just learned of George's passing. My condolences and my prayers go out to you. I met George a few years back since my induction into the NIASHOF. He was always appreciative and kind to me and treated me as if I were family. I guess it is the Italian thing. I will always remember him for being so active with the Hall. I remember my times there at the golf tournament feeling in for Tommy and the wonderful times at the banquet. I wish I could of been more of a frequent visitor but living in California prevented me from doing so. I will miss his energy and life for all our Italian festivities but his spirit will live on. We are so grateful to have known George. For Paul, he was a reminder of his father, whom he spent countless hours listening to stories of the old days. George always had stories and they were always intriguing, funny, and fascinating. George was a man that you could go to with questions and he would almost always have the answers. And if he didn't, he knew somebody that did and reached out on your behalf. When Charlie needed a job during college, George was the first to offer him a place in the NIASHF in Chicago to get his feet wet in the real world. I know Charlie appreciated everything George did for him, as did I. George did me favors, and I strived to always be there any time and every time that there was something that I could do for him. We spent these past few years together buying and selling all kinds of memorabilia at the flea market and auctions, with our mutual friends Brad, Sarah, Mark, and Maria. I always looked forward to "George" days! I will forever be grateful for George and Linda's hand in bringing my best friend Brad together with his fiance Sarah, who has brought him so much happiness. George was a great patriarch for the Randazzo family. I am grateful to have met his sons and their families and to know Linda. George was so proud of his wonderful family, as he should be. He was also proud to be the founder and main guy at the NIASHF in Chicago. He worked all day, everyday, in his mind, in his office, and in his heart to keep his dream going and to make sure that the successes of countless Italian American athletes, coaches, and supporters were recognized for their accomplishments through NIASHF. Through sponsorships and scholarships, he recognized youthful organizations so that they could have more opportunities to reach their goals and dreams. I will always remember George, so fondly, for he meant so much to me and he was a man that I will forever be proud to call a good friend. I love you George and will miss you. Dearest Linda, Please allow me to carry on being there for George by allowing me to be there for you. Anytime you need something that you think that I can do for you, please reach out. To the family of Mr. Randazzo, my sympathy to all of you. I just want you to know having met George only once in the late 80's how kind he was to my young sons. My uncle Paul Zachara who passed away in Jan. of this year, worked with your dad at Motorola. I don't even know how we managed go to the Sports Musuem off of Route90, on a day it was closed and had a guided personal tour by Mr. Randazzo. My uncle was proud to have known him, and was thrilled to walk through the museum with Mr. R showing my sons around, who loved baseball and had all their questions answered. It was a great day, forever in my memory. Just want you to know, though I am sure you do, all the lives your dad touched, from humble beginnings he was so proud of his early museum, his love of sports showed through in just a few hours. He even showed us the photo of his son, a young umpire.. May he Rest in Peace, and peace be to all of you.

There are many word in my heart about My hero when I was a little girl My Mothers youngers brother My Uncle George my hero .I am lost for words but you will be missed just because I haven't been around for years that doesn't mean that I didn't think about you. You were my favorite out of my mother side of the family you always had a way to make a kid smile and laugh even if it was a bad day. .You may have been my mothers baby brother but you were also my mothers hero in more ways than one can think .Rest in Peace Uncle George with the angles .Love always Maryjo .

I was sad to hear of the passing of Tony and Marc's dad. Growing up as kids together with all the good ol' Bloomingdale group we had; I spent many afternoons at the Randazzo house. We all met during our days at Westfield Jr. High, where I have fond memories playing baseball in the Randazzo cul de sac and attending school dances together through high school. I was proud of my Italian heritage and happy to have Tony and Marc become our Bloomingdale Italian friends. It was my honor and thrill to be personally asked by Mr. Randazzo to be a model (with Marc) in his Inaugural Italian American Sports Hall of Fame Magazine. What a wonderful memory I have of that day donning my red, white, green baseball jacket which Mr. Randazzo had selected for Marc and I. Still have the magazine! Mr. Randazzo made me feel special that day and he was so proud of his new endeavor to share his Italian roots and heritage! My mom will greet you in heaven with cannoli Mr. Randazzo!

George Randazzo was the type of person that as soon as you met him you knew he was genuine and that’s genuine to a fault, if there is such a thing. He was one of the kindest people I have ever met. I first met George when I joined the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame (Massachusetts Chapter) in 1992. As the National Founder he of course attended our Banquet. I once told George that People say to me, can’t you donate your time and money to a more worthy cause than sports? “Well , they are wrong!” George would say, “NIASHF isn’t just about sports! It’s about pride in Heritage, Helping Kids stay off the streets and drugs! By inspiring them through sports and introducing them to our Italian American heroes like Rocky Marciano or Tony Demarco, Joe DiMaggio, Tommy Lasorda, or Mike Piazza. We Maybe just a simple Hall of Fame in Chicago, but we help people everyday!” George’s heart was bigger than the body that housed it. He was a fellow Ellis Island “Medal of Honor” recipient, there is only 2600 of these individuals in the world and they are people like Ronald Reagan, Rosa Parks, Mohammed Ali, and General Norman Schwarzkopf to name a few and give you an understanding of the company Georges Legacy will keep. George Randazzo Gave of himself to others all his life, his love of Heritage, Family, and Community will be his Legacy and he will not be forgotten. Dear Linda, Tony and Marc. I am so sad to hear about George passing. George was a wonderful and kind friend to work with. I fondly remember working with George to build the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame on Lake Street in the Village of Bloomingdale. I remember George inviting me to his fundraising dinners and kindly introducing me to the attendees as his Italian Mayor from Bloomingdale. I will miss my friend George. When someone loses a family member or friend they suffer a traumatic loss. But when we lose someone like George Randazzo, it leaves a crater. I am so happy the he achieved his dream establishing The Italian American Sports Hall of Fame, and that he allowed me to be a part of it. He was more than George Randazzo. He was a wonderful, caring , creative and loving man that everyone loved. The Gale family loved you and will miss you terribly.
