Ruth Gramann, nee Schoendienst
Beloved wife of the late Maurice Gramann; Devoted mother of the late Keith Gramann, United States Navy Vietnam Veteran, Stephen (Donna) Gramann, Nancy (John) Tramutola and Darrell (Brenda) Gramann; Loving daughter of the late Louis and Mary Schoendienst; Cherished grandmother of Kelly (Steven) Keough, Theresa Sullivan, Michelle (Cody Delos Santos) Tramutola, Jacqueline (Fiancé Thomas Barnicle) Tramutola, Darrik (Loren) Gramann and Lauren Gramann; Fond great grandmother of Maxwell, Cameron and Keira Keough, Emily (Ryan) Oberg, Bradley Sullivan, Kristen (Nik) McNamara-Lacher and Isabelle Sullivan, Bennett and Carter Gramann; Dear great great grandmother of Elyn and Owen Oberg; Dear aunt of many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Marie Crane and Irene Strieker; her brothers, Paul & Louis (Bud) Schoendienst; her father-in-law and mother-in-law Anthony and Anna Marie (Sommers) Gramann. Brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Robert Strieker, Earl Crane, Helen Schoendienst, Loretta Schoendienst, Loretta Gramann, Clara Gramann, Genevieve (John) O’Donnell, Raymond Gramann, Ralph (Adeline “Addie”) Gramann, Clarence Gramann, Rita (Paul) Frerker, and Verena (William “Bill”) Benner. Besides being devoted to her family, she was an amazing friend to everyone she met. She always wanted to help wherever she could and during her time as a parishioner of St. Matthews, she was a Eucharistic Minister visiting “shut-ins” on Sunday to spend time with them and give them the body of Christ. She had a strong faith in God which gave her much comfort when times were tough, and her actions mirrored her strong beliefs, as she lived a life of pure grace and humility. Ruth loved sports, all sports, mostly watched them but did participate in her younger years. She got a “Hole in One’ on the 16th Hole – 108 yard, September 19, 1995 at the Rail Golf Course in Springfield, IL and was so proud of this achievement. She bowled and played softball. She so enjoyed watching Golf, Baseball and Football but she did have her moments where she wasn’t thrilled with her Chicago sports teams, and maybe she yelled at the TV from time to time with frustration. She was particularly happy to be able to live long enough to experience the best win ever, when her Chicago Cubbies won the World Series in 2016.

Dear Cousins, Spouses, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren of Aunt Ruth, at this very sad time, we wish you peace and wonderful memories that bring a smile back to your faces and healing to your hearts. Gene and I met with Nancy and Aunt Ruth at the very beginning of Covid. It was a wonderful visit. Aunt Ruths' smile and that wonderful tone in her voice that was so familiar came back to me immediately. We really wanted to hug but of course we could not. All of you did so much to help your parents out. No family could have done better.
