Albert R. Wilberg was born to his parents Albert and Alice Wahl (nee Holt) in Evanston, Illinois on June 7, 1940 and he passed away August 3, 2026 in Elgin, Illinois.

He is survived by daughters Amy Vecchio (Matt) and Julie Zimmerman (Steve), his grandchildren Brian Zimmerman (Julia) and Monica Zimmerman (Taylor), as well as his great-grandchildren William and Natalie Zimmerman, his brother Donald Wilberg (Danna), his sister-in-law Linda Wilberg, numerous nieces, his caregiver Ron Zimmerman, Jr. and special neighbor Bonnie Hancock.

Al was predeceased by his parents and his adoptive father Raymond Wilberg, along with his youngest brother, Jerry Wilberg.


Al was raised in the Schorsch Village neighborhood of Chicago and graduated from Lane Tech in 1958. He attended Bradley University.


Al began working at age 10, working in his uncle’s butcher shop. His career with United Airlines began in 1960, retiring at age 57 to travel and cruise the world.

Al was a great cook and baker. He enjoyed going out to eat, attending church, and repairing things. As a teen, he and his friends built cars in the alley behind the house on Fletcher Street. Al loved to fish and he loved a good deal.

Services will take place on Saturday, August 8th at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 195 Nesler Road, Elgin at 11 AM. A private burial on Monday will take place.
