Allen Robert Castello
In Loving Memory of Allen Robert Castello September 1, 1966 – May 7, 2025 With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Allen Robert Castello, who departed this life on May 7, 2025, after a courageous six-year battle with cancer. Allen was a devoted husband, a proud father, and a deeply loving papa. His greatest joy came from the time spent with his family — whether it was quiet days at home, backyard games with the grandkids, or cheering from the stands at every sports game. He was the kind of man who led with strength, always there with a witty joke, a warm smile, and wise words when they were needed most. A devoted employee of Union Pacific Railroad for 30 years, Allen took great pride in his work and the strong sense of camaraderie that came with it. Whether it was on the tracks or in the yard, he showed up every day with integrity, grit, and a quiet determination that inspired those around him. Outside of work, Allen had a lifelong love for baseball. From childhood sandlots to weekend leagues, he found joy in the game, both playing and cheering on his favorite team, the Chicago Cubs. Baseball wasn’t just a pastime — it was a passion that brought friends/family together, created memories, and offered moments of escape and fun even in the hardest of times. Throughout his six-year journey with cancer, Allen displayed unwavering resilience, grace, and an indomitable spirit. Never one to complain, he faced every treatment, every setback, and every challenge with courage and hope — a testament to the strength that defineda remarkable life. Allen will be lovingly remembered by his wife and best friend, Lisa Castello (nee Vercillo); his children, Adam (Alyssa) Castello, Michelle (Steven) Van Ewyk (nee Castello), Justin Castello (Madeline Schramm), and Ryan (Morgan) Castello; and his cherished grandchildren, Emma, Gino, and Addyson — with two more blessings on the way. He was the beloved son of the late William and Maureen Castello, and son-in-law to Raymond and Carol Vercillo, who loved him as their own. Rest in peace, Allen. Your fight is over but Your legacy lives on. Donations appreciated to The Lung Cancer Research Fund through Rush University.
