Amilcar Rivera, 84, born in Guatemala and resident of Glendale Heights, Illinois, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026, reuniting with his beloved wife, Sonia Rivera.
Amilcar was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose life was defined by kindness, hard work, and patience. He dedicated many years of service as a maintenance engineer for DuPage County, where he was known for his reliability, skill, and strong work ethic. He took pride in doing things well and providing for his family.
Outside of work, Amilcar was happiest when he was fixing something with his hands, watching or talking about soccer, or enjoying a Coca-Cola. A true handyman at heart, there was little he couldn’t repair. Family and friends knew they could always count on him — not just for his practical skills, but for his steady presence and gentle spirit.
He is survived by his loving children: Herbert, Sonia, Carolin, and Miguel Ernesto; his cherished grandchildren: Kathy, Kevin, Josue, Stephanie, Michael, and Danna; and his treasured great-grandchildren: Serena, Natalie, and Luna. His legacy of love, dedication, and quiet strength will continue through them.
Amilcar will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the blessing of knowing him.
