Ann Serpico

Ann Serpico, 103, of Melrose Park, Illinois passed away on September 5, 2026.   

Born in 1923 to Guy and Rosina Giordano, Ann lived a remarkable 103 years, but what truly mattered most was not the number of years, but the people she filled them with.  She dedicated her life to her family and friends, giving of herself freely and making sure everyone around her felt cared for, welcomed and loved.    During WW II, Ann worked for Douglas aircraft  as a "Rosie the Riveter",  doing her part during a defining moment in our country's history.  She carried that same strength and determination that would define her throughout her long life.  

In 1944 she married the late Alex Serpico and together they shared 55 wonderful years in Melrose Park building a beautiful and happy life.  They raised their two daughters, Joanne Hall and Renee (Art) Poulopoulos in a  home filled with love, laughter, countless parties, exceptional food and an award-winning garden!     Ann's anise biscotti were legendary and graced every table!   No one went hungry under her watch. 

She was the heart of the family - a fierce protector, wise counselor, and the ultimate cheerleader for her daughters and grandchildren. She was the person you could turn to for advice, comfort, encouragement - or sometimes simply the truth, whether you were ready to hear it or not!   She welcomed three grandchildren Carrie (Jason) Horwitz, Jon (Katie) Poulopoulos and Marc (Jocelyn) Poulopoulos, and watching them grow brought her immense pride and happiness.  But the ultimate joy of her later years were her four great-granddaughters - Alex , Ava, Mia and Isabelle.   She cherished every one of them and loved watching the family she and Alex had continue to grow.  

Ann was a loving sister to the late John (Jean), Tony (Dee), Pete (Fran) and Al (Bea).  She was a beloved aunt and great-aunt to many and treasured the many lifelong friendships she made throughout her 103 years.  She had a way of making people feel like family, and those who were lucky enough to know her carried a piece of her with them  

Ann leaves behind a legacy of love, family, strength, laughter, and a table where there was ALWAYS room for one more.  

Visitation will be held at Salerno's Rosedale Chapels 450 W. Lake Street in Roselle on Tuesday, September 15 from 4-8pm  A prayer service will begin at 7 pm '  A private burial service will be held.
