Ann Serpico

Ann Serpico, 103, of Melrose Park, Illinois, peacefully passed away on September 5, 2026.

Born in 1923 to Guy and Rosina Giordano, Ann lived a remarkable and vibrant 103 years. While her longevity was extraordinary, what truly defined her was the depth of love she shared with those around her. She dedicated her life to her family and friends, giving of herself freely and ensuring that everyone in her presence felt welcomed, cherished, and loved.

During World War II, Ann contributed to the war effort at Douglas Aircraft as a "Rosie the Riveter," playing a vital role during a defining moment in American history. The strength, resilience, and determination she discovered during those years became the bedrock of her character throughout her long life.

In 1944, Ann married her beloved late husband, Alex Serpico. Together, they shared 55 wonderful years in Melrose Park, building a beautiful life rooted in devotion. They raised their two daughters, Joanne Hall and Renee (Art) Poulopoulos, in a home constantly filled with love, laughter, countless celebrations, exceptional food, and an award-winning garden. Ann's legendary anise biscotti were a staple at every gathering, and under her watchful eye, no one ever went hungry.

Ann was the true matriarch and heart of her family—a fierce protector, a wise counselor, and the ultimate cheerleader. She was the steady pillar people turned to for comfort, encouragement, and honest, heartfelt advice.

She was filled with immense pride and happiness as she watched her three grandchildren—Carrie (Jason) Horwitz, Jon (Katie) Poulopoulos, and Marc (Jocelyn) Poulopoulos—grow into adulthood. The ultimate joy of her later years, however, was her four great-granddaughters: Alex, Ava, Mia, and Isabelle. She cherished each of them deeply and marveled at the growing legacy she and Alex had created.

Ann was a loving sister to her late brothers, John (Jean), Tony (Dee), Pete (Fran), and Al (Bea). She was also a beloved aunt, great-aunt, and a loyal friend to many throughout her century of life. Ann had a rare gift for turning friends into family, leaving an indelible mark on everyone lucky enough to know her. She leaves behind an enduring legacy of strength, laughter, devotion, and a table where there was always room for one more.

Visitation will be held at Salerno's Rosedale Chapels 450 W. Lake Street in Roselle on Tuesday, September 15 from 4-8pm A prayer service will begin at 7 pm. 

 A private burial service will be held.
