Antonio “Tony” Mendonez, 76, passed away unexpectedly on February 7, 2025, in Carol Stream, Illinois. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather known for his kindness and great love for his family.

Born on April 3, 1948, in Manila, Philippines, Tony was the beloved son of the late Pedro and Belen Mendonez. As the only son among six children, he grew up surrounded by 5 sisters. He later married the love of his life, Lydia, and raised three daughters, Jamie, Jill, and Jen, whom he cherished deeply. His pride in his daughters extended to their families, as he welcomed his sons-in-law—Michael, Andrew, and JP—into his heart as his own.

Being a grandfather was one of Tony’s greatest pride and joys. His grandchildren—Jaden, Lauren, Mason, Brandon, Ryan, Naomi, and Amelia—were the light of his life. He was their biggest fan, always making sure that he was there for every milestone, sports games, concerts, and recitals.

A graduate of San Sebastian College, Tony pursued a successful career as an Auditor at San Miguel Corporation in the Philippines. To provide better opportunities for his family, Tony moved from the Philippines to Australia and eventually settled in the United States.

He enjoyed gardening, watching sports, playing puzzle games on his phone, and listening to oldies, but his favorite is playing mahjong for hours with his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and friends.

He is survived by his four sisters—Bernadette, Gemma, Ruby, and Kelly—and is reunited in eternal rest with his late sister, Cora. He also leaves behind his brothers-in-law, Nilo and Jun Villacorte, his sisters-in-law, Charito, Paz, Emma P. and Nila, and many cherished nieces and nephews.

Tony was deeply loved and will be missed tremendously. He will always be remembered for his generosity, kindness and his love and dedication for his family.
