those two little words will forever bring a smile to the faces of those who loved her
Arlene J. Burnagiel, born May 27, 1935, passed away on October 12, 2026, leaving behind a family tree full of branches, stories, and the kind of love that keeps growing long after a life is well lived. She will be remembered with deep affection, gratitude, and more than a few smiles by those who knew her best.
Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Burnagiel. Their bond remains an enduring part of her story, and those who loved them both take comfort in imagining a joyful reunion that needed no directions and no second invitation.
She is survived by her daughter, Pam Samp (James); her son, Steve Burnagiel (Norma); and her sister, Barbara Hejza. Arlene’s love also lives on in her grandchildren, Timothy Samp (Jen), Jonathon Samp (Tori), Nicholas Samp, Melanie Samp, Stephanie Howze (Tim), and Brandon DeJesus, and in her cherished great-grandchildren, Avery Samp and Savannah Samp. Together, they were the heart of her world, the lucky recipients of her care, and no doubt the audience for many memorable opinions, warm encouragements, and family moments that will be retold for years to come. “OHH MYY”
The legacy Arlene leaves is one of family, devotion, and the steady presence that holds generations together. She will be missed in all the familiar places where her name was spoken with love and where her place in the family was never in question. Even in sorrow, her family can carry forward the comfort of having been loved by her.
Visitation will be held on October 17, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Salerno's Rosedale Chapels, 450 W Lake St, Roselle, IL 60172. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:45 a.m. at St. Isidore Parish, 427 W Army Trail Rd, Bloomingdale, IL 60108. Interment will take place at St Joseph Catholic Cemetery & Mausoleums, N Cumberland Ave, River Grove, IL 60171.
Arlene may no longer be here to say “Oh My,” but those two little words will forever bring a smile to the faces of those who loved her.
Until we meet again, save us a seat.
