Bernice Nolan

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bernice Nolan (McGorey), a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was born on November 21, 1926, in Chicago, Illinois, and departed from this world on January 15, 2026, in Naperville, Illinois, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of love and compassion.

Bernice’s life was a testament to her unwavering commitment to her family and her faith. A nurturing spirit, she dedicated herself to the care of those she loved, embodying the essence of a beautiful, caring woman whose beliefs were deeply rooted in her Christian faith. Her journey of education began at Blessed Sacrament Grade School and continued through her studies at Immaculate Conception in Davenport, Iowa, and at Northwestern University, culminating in her career as a licensed practical nurse.

She was united in marriage for 67 years to her cherished husband, Arthur Nolan, who, along with her parents Charles and Margaret McGorey, their son Gary Nolan, her daughter-in-law Janet Nolan, son-in-law Robert Griffith, Granddaughter Kelly Nolan and her siblings and spouses: Margaret (Frank) Recupido, Charles (Margaret) McGorey, John McGorey, Eleanor McGorey, Evelyn (Robert) Duffy, Katherine (Robert) O'Neill and Harold McGorey all welcomed her into the gentle embrace of eternity.

Bernice is mourned by her loving children: Kathy (Vince) Tranchita, Susan (Frank) Prestipino, and Dr. Craig Nolan, whose lives were brightened by her boundless love. She was a proud grandmother to Ryan (Melissa) Tranchita, Erin (Dan) Delaney, Sean (Tiffany) Prestipino, Jamie (Dan) Wallenberg, Candice (Eric) Falkner, April (Nate) Gessler, and Brian Nolan. Her legacy extends to her great-grandchildren: Tyler Tranchita, Jack Tranchita, Lauren Delaney, Carter Delaney, Addison Prestipino, Nolan Prestipino, Elle Wallenberg, Chloe Wallenberg, Mason Falkner, Owen Falkner, Noelle Buffo, and Leo Buffo, and Dylan Gessler, all of whom carry forth the light she instilled in them.

Bernice's loving nature was complemented by a warm and generous heart, and she will be remembered fondly by many nieces and nephews who were fortunate enough to know her kindness.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday January 20, 2026, at Salerno's Rosedale Chapels in Roselle, Illinois from 8:30 AM until 10:00 AM, followed by Mass at St. Walter Catholic Church at 10:30 AM. Her indelible impact on the lives she touched will forever resonate in the hearts of her family and friends, as they celebrate the life of a truly remarkable woman whose faith and strength will continue to inspire those left behind.

In lieu of flowers, please say a prayer or leave a kind thought in memory of Bernice.

We thank all family and friends that supported Bernice over the years, especially her loving and supportive caregivers for which we are forever grateful, Carmen, Virginia, Pusha, Mimi. The Captains of the Ship, Felicia and Aaron.
