Carmen M. Indovina

Carmen M. Indovina, 102, passed away on August 27, 2026, surrounded by the love and devotion of the family she spent a lifetime nurturing.Born on June 10, 1924, to immigrant parents Rosa and Pietro Carluccio, Carmen grew up on Taylor Street in Chicago’s Little Italy. She loved sharing stories of running her parents' candy store and the vibrant community life of the neighborhood she called home. She also spent many years as a Chicago crossing guard, where all the kids on the corner absolutely adored her.Her home operated under a true open-door policy, serving as a neighborhood sanctuary where visitors were always welcome. She loved nothing more than to cook for her family and serve late-night coffee to anyone who dropped by, filling her kitchen table with continuous conversation and laughter. Nothing brought her greater joy than cementing her family's bond with her legendary Sunday spaghetti and meatball dinners. Through these crowded meals, she taught her family the true meaning of togetherness—a lesson of devotion they were profoundly honored to give back to her in her final days. She was the devoted wife of the late Joseph Indovina. Her legacy lives on through her children: Marilyn Williams, Joseph (Donna) Indovina, and Peter (Karen) Indovina. She is reunited in peace with her son, Leonard Indovina.Carmen was the beloved grandmother of Mary, Kimmy, Nicki (Jason), Cara, Lisa (Eric), Missy, Joe (Dana), Mia, Kate, Joey, and Mark. She was a cherished great-grandmother to Cassie (Norm), Reina, Joey (Kali), Gabby (Pedro), Gianna, Malena, Evie, Mila, Rocky, and Lilly; and a treasured great-great-grandmother to Natalia and Normie. She was also a favorite aunt to many loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday at Salerno’s Rosedale Chapels, Sciaraffa Funeral Directors, 450 W. Lake Street, Roselle, 60172 from 3:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Wednesday with family and friends meeting directly at St. Isidore Church, 427 W. Army Trail Road, Bloomingdale, 60108 for Mass at 10:45 a.m. Entombment Queen of Heaven Cemetery. For information call (630) 889-1700.
