Carmen G. Murillo, a vibrant soul filled with rhythm and kindness, departed this world on June 28, 2025, at the age of 60. Born on December 14, 1964, Carmen's life revolved around the joyous melodies of family, music, and community.
Before he hung up his work boots in 2011, Carmen dedicated many fruitful years to Groot Sanitation, earning the respect of his colleagues and the gratitude of the community he served. He carried the pride of his vocation with him, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a hearty laugh.
Beyond the realm of work, Carmen was a passionate drummer, lending his rhythmic talents to the Chicagoland Band, Midnight Fire! Present as an integral beat in the band’s heart, he injected life into each gathering, captivating audiences with his dynamic performances. His love for music echoed through every drumbeat, creating cherished memories for all who experienced it.
In the embrace of his beloved family, Carmen found his greatest joy. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Denise (nee Jurasz), and their wonderful daughter, Stephanie Murillo, who carry forward his spirit with love and laughter. Carmen's siblings—Florence (Dennis) Balsitis, Joy (Carlos) Pinto, and Ralph (Teresa Montejo) Murillo—stand united in their grief, honoring the bond they shared with their dear brother.
Carmen was raised enveloped in warmth by his parents, Sylvia (nee Monreal) and the late Ralph Murillo, who instilled in him a deep appreciation for family. His beloved uncle, Carmen "Jap" (Vickie) Murillo, also remembers a nephew filled with zest and camaraderie.
The depth of his connection extended to his cherished fur babies, Mindy and Roxy, who brought him immeasurable joy and companionship. A proud uncle, Carmen adored his nieces and nephews, including Denny, Nicholas, Emily, Aiden, Ralphie, Vinny, Kenneth Jr., Heather, Jeff, Georgette, Rachel, Gloria, Scottie, Justin, Melissa, Joe Jr., Christopher, and many others, watching over them like a guardian, always ready with words of encouragement and love.
As the family extends beyond the immediate circle, Carmen takes with him a spirited legacy that lives on through his great-nieces and nephews—Skyler, Sophia, Sydney, Braylon, and countless others—who will forever remember his infectious laughter and caring heart.
Carmen G. Murillo was more than just a name; he was a unique melody in the symphony of life, a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. His rhythm may have paused, but the echoes of his life will resonate through every cherished memory, carrying his spirit within the hearts of all who were fortunate to know him.
