Dorothy Jaskey

We joyfully celebrate the life of Dorothy Jaskey, who passed away on October 23 at the age of 94.

Born on February 12, 1931, in Chicago to her parents Joseph and Anna, Dorothy lived a full life of love and adventure. A lifelong Catholic, she found great joy in her faith and church community, living out the Gospel through quiet acts of kindness, prayer, and service.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jerry. They built a home filled with laughter, love, and faith. She is survived by her son David, granddaughter Cathy, daughters-in-law Judy and Lisa, and many friends, each of whom she cherished deeply.

Dororthy will be remembered for her creativity, energy, and love of community. She was a teacher, school board member, Guild president and high school youth group director. She directed thirty-three theater shows, some of which she wrote herself. She volunteered with Art and Environment, the CCW, Helping Hands ministry, the Harvester Newsletter, Bloomingdale library, and police board. She traveled to over ninety countries.

With her spirit, her warm hospitality, and her belief in the goodness of others, Dorothy leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and family that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Isidore Catholic Church on Saturday, December 6th at 9:30 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Isidore Catholic Church or it’s Helping Hands ministry, a cause close to her heart.

Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace.
