Celebrating the Life of Lauren Elizabeth Koopman
Lauren Elizabeth Koopman was born on November 26, 1991, at Gottlieb Hospital, and from the very beginning she brought warmth, laughter, and love into the lives of everyone who knew her. Though her passing on September 13, 2025 leaves her family and friends heartbroken, her memory will forever shine brightly through the countless lives she touched.
Lauren’s greatest joy was her family. She was the beloved daughter of Keith (Wendy) Koopman and Jill (Dave)Flowers, and the devoted sister of Dan (Katie) Koopman. Lauren is survived and missed by her grandmother Dolores Koopman, her aunts Tracy Santagata, Janyce Regan, and Gail Peterson, and her uncles Steven Schenk and Mark (Debbie) Koopman. She is adored by her nieces Harper Koopman, Paisley Rack, and Ryan Vernier and nephew Camden Koopman. She also leaves behind her cousins Mitch Koopman, Beth Koopman, Marissa(Austin) Vernier, Tyler Santagata, Julie (Paul) Thiem, and Kim (Steve) Leffew. Lauren was a dog mom to Maddon and Dakota and an amazing friend to many.
Lauren was strong in her faith and she now joins in peace her grandparents Marvin “Bud” Koopman, Wilbur and Judy Schenk, and her aunt Sharon Koopman, who preceded her in death. Known affectionately as “Auntie Lolo,” Lauren adored her nieces and nephew, spending endless hours cheering at activities, playing with them, and simply being present in their lives. She will always be remembered for the way she called them her “baby girls” and “baby boy,” and for the love she poured into every moment together.
Lauren’s life was marked by passion and purpose. A proud graduate of Immanuel Lutheran Grade School, Fenton High School, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, she went on to achieve her Doctorate of Chiropractic from National University in 2019. Inspired by her love of animals, she became certified in the treatment of dogs and horses in 2020 and fulfilled her dream by founding Imprinted Animal Chiropractic. Through her work, she brought comfort, healing, and joy to countless pets and their families.
Beyond her professional life, Lauren was a woman of many interests. She loved sports, especially playing throughout her childhood and cheering on the Chicago Cubs—so much so that she named her dog after Cubs manager Joe Maddon. She treasured attending games with her dad, as well as time spent at the Medinah Shrine Center with her family, where she joyfully supported events, celebrations, and causes close to their hearts.
At home, Lauren’s creativity shined through her love of gardening, baking (especially mastering Grandma K’s pies), and collecting her favorite serving platters and Crocs. She found joy in Disney movies—The Lion King being her favorite—and in building friendships, especially through the DuPage Girl Network.
Above all, Lauren valued time with those she loved. Sunday dinners filled with card games and laughter were the highlight of her week, a tradition she never missed.
Lauren lived a life full of love, purpose, and joy. Her spirit, kindness, and laughter will live on in her family, her friends, and every life she touched.
In honor of Lauren, the family invites donations to two causes close to her heart: Shriner’s Children’s Hospital of Chicago https://www.shrinerschildrens.org/en/giving or the Good as Gold Golden Retriever Rescue of Illinois https://wl.donorperfect.net/weblink/weblink.aspx?name=E356588&id=1.
