Edith A. Grieco

Edith A. Grieco, 95 years young, beloved wife of the late Frank Grieco; loving mother of James (Debra) Grieco, Richard (Kathy) Grieco, and Lisa (Craig) Palmer; beloved grandmother (Nana) of James (Sarah), Nina (Ryan), Nick and Carli; dearest sister of the late Jim, Cuneo, Salvatore, and Peter Sammarco; best friend /sister of Mary (nee Bartucci); and fond aunt and grand aunt of too many to mention.

Edith was born on September 6, 1930, the last of eight children to Maria Esposito and Antonio Sammarco, in the Taylor Street neighborhood of Chicago Illinois.

Edith went to Andrew Jackson elementary school and McKinley high school. After graduation she took a job at John M. Smith furniture before she married the love of her life Frank in 1956. The couple then moved to Elmwood Park where she quickly made best of friends while living on Sunset Drive.

In 1975, the couple moved to Columbus, Ohio, where they bought the local Clarklift dealership and hosted numerous friends and family in their home (especially for her favorite holiday of Thanksgiving.) Edith moved back to the Chicago area in 1984 and after a few different locations, settled back in their final home of 32 years in Bloomingdale Illinois. Nana as she was affectionately known, was an avid cook, enjoyed crocheting, and sewing, and spending time with her 4 grandchildren. She had a warm smile, a big heart and will be dearly missed.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at Salerno's Rosedale Chapels, Sciaraffa Funeral Directors, 450 W. Lake Street (3/4 mile west of Bloomingdale/ Roselle Road) Roselle, 60172. Funeral Saturday, with Final Viewing and Closing Prayers at the funeral home beginning at 8:15 a.m. and then proceeding to St. Isidore Church, 427 W. Army Trail Road, Bloomingdale, 60108 for Mass at 9:30 a.m. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery. For information call (630) 889-1700.
