Elias Solis Lozano August 23, 1955 – June 8, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Elias Solis Lozano, a devoted husband, beloved father, and cherished grandfather, who passed away at the age of 69 after a courageous year-long battle with ALS.
Born in Durango, Mexico on August 23, 1955, Elias came to Chicago in 1972 in pursuit of the American Dream. He was the son of Rita Solis and the late Vicente Solis, and one of nine children. He was brother to Gregorio, J.Guadalupe, Adrian, Magdaleno, Jose, Matilde, Blanca, and Maria Modesta.
Elias built a life founded on hard work, love, and deep family values. A proud husband, he was married to Juanita Solis for 50 wonderful years. Together, they raised two daughters, Maribel Solis and Ana Solis, and created a loving home full of warmth and laughter.
Elias was the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren, Joshua, Jonathan, Cassandra, Alea, Diamond, Josiah, and Jeremiah, who will always remember his kindness, quiet strength, and the gentle way he cared for them. Whether he was preparing fresh fruit for family gatherings, tending to his backyard plants, or firing up the grill, Elias always made sure everyone felt loved and fed.
A true Chicagoan at heart, Elias could always be found wearing a shirt or hat representing his favorite teams—the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, El América, and the Santos Laguna soccer team. He also enjoyed relaxing with an Old Style beer in hand, especially while watching a game or sitting outside in the yard.
He worked tirelessly—often holding two or more jobs at once—to provide a better life for his family. Despite his hard work, Elias was never too busy to lend a hand, offer a smile, or spend time with the people he loved. His daughters and grandchildren lovingly recall that they never once saw him angry—a testament to his incredible patience, warmth, and loving nature.
Elias is survived by his wife Juanita, his daughters Maribel and Ana, his seven grandchildren, his mother Rita, and his siblings. He is preceded in death by his father, Vicente.
His legacy is one of love, quiet strength, and selfless devotion to family. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
