In 2006, Elliott Scott was born into the Leonhardt family at 10:16 am on April 20th as the third brother and fifth child of the bunch. As a young child, he discovered his natural gifts of athleticism, writing, science, and of course his irresistible charm & love for every morsel of humor in life. He had an honest heart, a vibrant personality, and a strong sense of justice, always going out of his way to spread the word of God and to help those in need. He attended St. Peter’s Lutheran for K-8th grade before moving onto Schaumburg High School and eventually Loyola University. He regularly excelled at school, baseball, and every facet of life including video games. For Elliott, as ambitious as he was, nothing ever happened soon enough: he always moved at his own pace and few could keep up with him. He came into this world the same as how he left it: earlier than expected. On June 27th, 2026, Elliott unexpectedly passed away. He is survived by many loved ones including his two parents (Paula and Scott Leonhardt), his four sisters (Symone, Brook, Ariella, and Willow), and his four brothers (Nathaniel, Cory, Calvin, and Theo). His memory will continue on through his extended family and closest friends. He impacted many lives and always had a positive influence on those he met, even for a brief moment. Please share with the family in this experience of grief while we honor Elliott’s legacy with fond memories and stories of his life.
Elliott Scott Leonhardt came into this world as the tiniest baby his mother had ever seen. My mother never wanted to put Elliott down in fear that he might break if he cried. But, he didn’t. This was a strong baby with the persistence to cry and to be heard from rooms away even in his tiny stature. He continued to grow that way—both the fiercest and the gentlest boy. In those first few years of life, after learning to walk, he loved picking the bleeding heart bush that grew out of the corner in the backyard, along with the dandelion weeds, and baby white clovers before running inside to give our mom a bouquet. He was a beast at four square and climbing the tallest trees. His love for plants and his keenness for competition grew like two opposites in harmony. He was a baseball champion and a science genius, taking 1st place in Botany at the state science fair as he toiled over major questions like how to grow vegetables on Mars if our world ever turned into a dystopian movie. In high school he continued to excel, so very bright yet some thought to turn down his light. Through it all, Elliott Scott Leonhardt never let hate consume him. As the little explorer he will always be, he graduated Schaumburg High School and went on to major in engineering at Loyola University, so he could answer even bigger questions. And, he did—just not with textbooks. He fell in love with God, read his bible more, and found parts of himself full of wisdom that blew our family away. One day, Elliott, you will show us the designed architecture you’re engineering in heaven. Thank you for being a humble son of integrity to Paula Leonhardt and Scott Leonhardt. A goofy and troublesome little brother to Symone Leonhardt, Brook Lynn Leonhardt, Nathaniel Leonhardt, Cory Leonhardt. And a gentle guide yet adventurous spirit of a big brother to Calvin Leonhardt, Theo Leonhardt, Ariella Leonhardt, and Willow Leonhardt. Your memory survives with our grandmothers also, Wanda Faye Ferguson, and Pamela Metzgar along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
