With deep respect and fond remembrance, we announce the passing of Emma Scalzo, who departed this life on August 2, 2026, at the remarkable age of 102. Born on April 19, 1924, Emma’s life was a testament to resilience, warmth, and enduring devotion to family.
A beloved matriarch, Emma’s presence was the steady heart of her family for generations. She guided her loved ones with wisdom, compassion, and unfailing strength, always putting the needs of others before her own. Her home was not only a place of nourishment for the body but also for the soul; Emma was celebrated as a great cook, her meals drawing family and friends close and turning ordinary days into cherished gatherings.
Emma’s sharp memory and gift for storytelling were legendary among those who knew and loved her. She delighted her children and grandchildren with tales from her youth and insights gained through a century of living, always delivered with laughter, tenderness, and unmistakable faith. Her enduring loyalty and steadfast faithfulness were qualities that defined her character and inspired all who knew her.
Emma is survived by her devoted sons Antonio (Josephine) Scalzo, Giovanni (Jennifer M.) Scalzo, and Giuseppe (Antonietta T.) Scalzo; her loving sister Ines Costanzo (Ponterio); grandmother of Emma, Carmelo, Alessandra, Isabella, Gianluca and Matteo, and her adoring great grandchildren Giuseppe Paladino, Gianfranco Paladino, Stella Marie, Charlotte Rose, and Everett Jeff Schramms. Loving aunt of many nieces and nephews. She now joins her beloved husband, Carmelo, who preceded her in death.
Emma Scalzo's long and fruitful life leaves behind a legacy of love, unity, and tradition. Her memory will live on in the hearts and minds of her family—whose lives she indelibly shaped through her example and dedication.
Her family and friends honor and celebrate a life well-lived, knowing that her spirit will remain with them always.
