Enrique "Dick" Gando

It is with deep love and gratitude that we remember Enrique Gando, age 85, a devoted husband, loving father of three, and proud grandfather of nine, whose life was defined by his unwavering commitment to family. He was born on July 15, 1940, in Pampanga, Philippines, to Aniceto and Remedios Gando. He graduated from Mapua University and majored in Engineering.

As an only child, Enrique understood the value of close family connections from an early age. Perhaps because he grew up without siblings, he dreamed of building a large and loving family of his own. That dream became one of the great accomplishments of his life. He took immense pride in watching his family grow through his children and grandchildren, cherishing the laughter, gatherings, and bonds that brought everyone together.

Enrique was a quiet and reserved man who never sought attention or recognition. He was simple in the best sense of the word—humble, hardworking, and content with life's everyday blessings. He spoke thoughtfully, listened carefully, and showed his love more through his actions than through grand gestures. Those who knew him understood that beneath his calm and modest nature was a deep well of kindness, strength, and devotion to the people he cared about most.

Perhaps nowhere was Enrique's pride more evident than in his role as a grandfather. His nine grandchildren brought him endless happiness, and he cherished every opportunity to celebrate their accomplishments, milestones, and unique personalities. In family photographs, Enrique could often be found standing proud, his head held high with a quiet smile on his face—a reflection of the immense pride he felt for each one. Those images captured what words sometimes cannot: a grandfather whose heart was full whenever his family was near.

Enrique will be remembered for his warmth, his dedication, and the sense of belonging he created for those around him. He understood that life's greatest achievements are not measured by personal success, but by the love shared with family and the memories created together. He is survived by his wife Cristeta; his three children: Francis (Laura), Christine (Todd), and Cheryll (Juan); his grandchildren: Marco, Mateo, Marissa, Mason, Nathan, Luke, Hector Junior, Leilani, Mathias, and AJ.

Though his presence will be deeply missed, the values he instilled, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely will continue to live on through his children, grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
