Gary Charles Pileski, 83, of Malta, Illinois, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2025, surrounded by family.
Born in Kenosha, Wisconsin, on November 29, 1941, Gary was a proud graduate of the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he earned both his bachelor’s degree in accounting and his Juris Doctor. A lifelong Badger fan, he carried his Wisconsin roots with pride and spirit wherever life took him.
Gary was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife, Alice, with whom he shared just shy of 40 years of love, laughter, and partnership. He was the proud father of six children: Hobie Pileski, Missy Stuart (Martin), Heidi Hames, Jody Pileski (Letty), Cody Guerrero (Oscar), and David Pileski (Kathryn), as well as two beloved bonus children, Sarah (Timm) and Daniel. He was also the proud grandfather of 20 grandchildren and great-grandfather to one, each of whom brought him immense joy and pride. He is also survived by his younger brothers, Rob and Larry Pileski.
Gary raised his family in Roselle, Illinois, where he was a deeply involved member of the community. He served as a Village Trustee from 1973 to 1977, was an active member of the Roselle Lions Club, and found joy in coaching youth intramural sports and serving as an adult leader in 4-H. A dedicated member of Roselle United Methodist Church, Gary chaired the preschool board and served in various roles over the decades. As an attorney, he most enjoyed founding his own practice, where he could serve clients with compassion, integrity, and skill.
He will be remembered for his quick wit, steady presence, and quiet strength. Whether offering a helping hand, a word of wisdom, or simply being there when it mattered most, Gary’s life was defined by kindness, loyalty, and deep care for others.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 31, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Salerno's Rosedale Chapels in Roselle. A funeral service will take place on Friday, August 1, at Roselle United Methodist Church, with informal visitation beginning at 10:00 AM and the service at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park in Elgin, Illinois.
