In Loving Memory of George A. Nikolaou

George A. Nikolaou was born on July 15, 1948, in Thelaro, Greece, to Apostolos and Anastasia Nikolaou. At the age of 18, he courageously immigrated to the United States alongside his two brothers, Christos and Constandino Nikolaou, in search of new opportunities and a better future.

George was a devoted son, brother, husband, uncle, father, and the proudest Papou to us, his grandchildren, Nikolas, Chase, Sophia, and Zoey. Family was the center of his life, and there was nothing he loved more than spending time with the people he loved. He was the beloved husband of Karen (née Sargent), a loving father to Natalie (Arturo) Hollis, and Christina (Brian) Houdek. No matter where we were or what we were doing, our Papou always made it a priority to be there. His love and support never wavered, and his presence brought comfort to everyone around him.

Known for his incredible work ethic, he spent many years as a successful restaurant owner before becoming a truck driver. Even after retiring, he continued working as a delivery driver. Outside of work, he enjoyed golfing, gardening, and never hesitated to share his opinion— whether you asked for it or not. His honesty and humor were part of what made him so unforgettable. Over the years, he also grew to love baseball, softball, and volleyball, especially when it meant supporting the people he loved.

George will be remembered for his loving heart, genuine kindness, compassion, and the warm smile that could light up any room. He had a way of making everyone feel welcome, valued, and loved. George was a fighter. For two years, he faced his illness with remarkable strength, resilience, and courage, inspiring those around him with his determination. He leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and unwavering dedication to his family. While our hearts are broken by his loss, we are forever grateful for the memories he gave us, and the unconditional love he shared. His spirit will continue to live on in all who knew and loved him.
