Geralyn “Geri” Mulcahy, 68, of Glendale Heights, Illinois, passed away suddenly but peacefully on Saturday, April 18, 2026. Born in Chicago, Illinois, Geri was the cherished daughter of the late Stanley and Mary Schubert.
Geri was the devoted wife of the late George Mulcahy and a proud mother to her twins, William (Megan) Mulcahy and Andrea (William) Joob. She was a loving grandmother to Giuliana Mulcahy, and is fondly remembered by her siblings, twin sister Carol Schubert and brother John (Anna) Schubert.
Her love extended warmly to her extended family, including her in-laws Anna Schubert, Sheila Mulcahy, Cathy (Tim O’Connor), and Mary the late (Robert) Nutschnig, as well as numerous cherished nieces and nephews. She was a proud great-aunt to eight dear children.
Geri's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love and devotion to her family and friends. She was a loving daughter, sister, mother, sister-in-law, mother-in-law, aunt, and great-aunt, who had five pillars that defined her world: Family, Friends, Faith, Flowers and Food. Always at the heart of gatherings, Geri’s warmth and laughter filled every room, especially around the dinner table, where she shared delicious meals made with love. Her Christmas cookies, lovingly baked each year alongside her daughter Andrea, were a sweet tradition eagerly awaited by all.
Adventures and outings with family and close friends, especially her dear twin sister Carol, created joyful memories that will be held dearly in the hearts of those who knew her. Geri also found peace and happiness in tending her garden, going to church, caring for animals, and spending quiet moments with her beloved granddaughter, Giuliana Grace, relaxing watching her favorite Hallmark movies
Geri’s kindness, generosity, and quick wit left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. To truly know her was to love her.
A wake will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Salerno’s Rosedale Chapels followed by funeral Mass at St. Peter the Apostle Church in Itasca at 10 am the following day April 24th.
Burial Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Geri’s memory to the Chicago Botanic Garden or the American Heart Association.
Geri’s radiant spirit and gentle heart will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched.
