Chakos, 92, WW II Army Veteran, Gregory resided in Windsor Park, Carol Stream, IL. and was a former resident of Elmwood Park, IL.; Beloved husband of the late Bertha (nee Gerontzos); Devoted father of Carolyn (Alan) Higgins, Georgia (Nicholas) Dante, Peter (Grace) and the late Angeline (the late Patrick) McGovern; Cherished grandfather of Anthony, Alicia, Erica (Michael) Kroha, Andrew, Alex and Julia and Great-Grandfather of Aubrey, Corbin and Connor; Loving brother of Helen (the late James) Contos, the late Althea (the late Harry) Paskalides, the late Peter (the late Dorothy), the late James (Varonne) and the late William (Antonia); Dear Uncle of many nieces and nephews. Gregory had a driving Passion for studying Iconography and painting beautiful Icons which are works of art, as a self taught Iconographer. Visitation, Thursday, February 23, 2017 from 4 – 9 p.m. at Salerno’s Galewood Chapels 1857 N. Harlem Ave. Chicago, IL.
