Irene Rascia

Irene M. Rascia (nee Olexik), age 97, passed away on August 15, 2025. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Michael (Mike) Rascia in 2018 after 67 years of marriage. Irene had a passion for reading and history and passed that love onto her children. She was a dedicated wife, mother, aunt, sibling, grandmother and friend. Irene loved to cook and she was an accomplished chef, especially Slovak and Italian cuisine. Irene loved to host family get togethers and her family, including her 27 nieces and nephews and 13 grandchildren enjoyed her cooking and hospitality. Mike and Irene’s home became a stopping point whenever out of town friends and family passed through Chicago. When her children were grown and out of the house, Irene volunteered into her 80’s with Meals on Wheels, delivering meals to the homebound elderly in her community of Addison, Illinois. Irene is survived by her 4 children: Mary Forman (John), Michael Rascia, Jr. (Sasha), Linda Rascia and Louis Rascia (Pat) and her 13 grandchildren.
