James Sim, 84, passed away on April 9th 2025, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Born on March 18th, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois, Jim lived a life marked by service—to his country, community, and faith.
Jim began his journey in Chicago, where he was born and raised. He went on to serve honorably in the United States Army, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to duty and public service. Following his military service, Jim dedicated 31 years of his life to the Chicago Police Department where his long-standing career in law enforcement reflected a deep sense of responsibility and a steadfast dedication to protecting others.
Beyond his professional life, Jim was deeply involved in civic and charitable organizations. He celebrated over 50 years with the Freemasons and contributed time and energy to both the March of Dimes and Red Cross organizations. His involvement extended into his spiritual life as well as Jim remained active in his church communities throughout the years.
Members of the River Forest-Austin Lodge will be leading a Masonic Ceremony beginning at 7:00 pm on Friday and all are welcome to attend. There will be a final viewing from 9:30-10:30 am on Saturday, the 26th before Jim is laid to rest at Mount Emblem in Elmhurst. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org or The Shriner’s Hospital at www.shrinerschildrens.org .
