Janette M. Chambers

Janette M. Chambers (née Stoos) passed away peacefully on August 4, 2026, comforted by two of her sisters, Jodie Stoos and Amy Barlow (née Stoos).

Born to John and Lois Stoos (née Bevier), Janette was raised in Warrenville, Illinois, where she grew up enjoying the love of small town, country life and the noise that only a house with seven siblings could make.

Janette shared 32 unforgettable years of marriage with her beloved husband, Joseph G. Chambers Sr., who preceded her in death. Together they built a loving home in Glendale Heights, Illinois, where they created a legacy of love and responsibility for family that their two boys would carry on.

For many years, Janette faithfully served as the Secretary to the DuPage County Sheriff's Office, where she was respected for her professionalism, dedication, and commitment to her Chief. She took great pride in her work and in the men and women of the Sheriff’s Office.

After retirement, Janette fulfilled a lifelong dream returning to the country by moving to Kennan, Wisconsin, where she found peace in the beauty of the Northwoods on her farm. She cherished the quiet life, her animals, both great and small, the changing of seasons, and the woods that became her home.

Her care and generosity were her ultimate legacy, touching the lives of so many – from Sunday School to little league baseball fields to mentoring and teaching. She baked cakes, she repaired ripped jeans and teddy bears, yet she also loved to drive with the music loud and the windows wide open. Her greatest accomplishment was not work, but the impact she had on her family, friends and community.

She is lovingly survived by her sons, Joseph G. Chambers Jr. and his wife, Tamara, and Jason Chambers and his wife, Marie.

She was the proud grandmother of Lucas, Grace, Abygail, Joseph, Logan, Wyatt, Noah, and Madeline.

She is also survived by her six siblings, including her devoted sister and primary caregiver, Jodie, whose love, compassion, and selfless care allowed Janette to spend her final months in the comforts of home, watching the birds feed and listening to the livestock on the quiet of the farm.

Janette's legacy lives on through her family, whose lives she shaped with unconventional wisdom, love and steadfast support. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.

In accordance with her wishes, Janette was cremated.

A Celebration of Life will be held on August 29th at Salerno’s Rosedale Chapels at 450 W. Lake Street, Roselle, Illinois. Family and friends will gather from 12-4 to honor her life, share memories, and celebrate the unique and remarkable woman she was.
