Jean K. Shive passed away peacefully on February 22, 2026, in Cave Creek, Arizona, surrounded by her loving family.
Jean was born in Chicago, Illinois, and later made her home in Mt. Prospect, Illinois, where she lovingly raised her family. She spent the last 25 years of her life in Glendale Heights, Illinois, where she built lasting friendships and remained devoted to those closest to her.
Jean was the beloved wife of Owen G. Shive, who preceded her in death in 2021. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Francis. She is survived by her sister, Joan Connell. Together with her husband, Jean shared a life centered on family, love, and dedication to their children and grandchildren.
Above all, Jean was a caring and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She took great pride in nurturing strong relationships with her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was known for her warmth, generosity, and the genuine interest she showed in the lives of others. Jean had a special gift for making everyone feel welcomed, supported, and loved.
Jean is survived by her children: her eldest son, Richard Shive and his wife, Carol; her daughter, Patricia Rooney and her husband, Kevin; and her youngest son, Daniel Shive and his wife, Paulette Theodosis. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Allison (Matt), Jennifer (TJ), Alia Iovinelli (Nick), Madison, Colleen Costa (Nicolas), Tyler Rooney (Monica), Richard Rooney (Cassidy), Alexandria Millimaci (Anthony), and Nicalette Theodosis (Scott Wytco). She was also blessed with great-grandchildren Daphne, Caden, Eleanor, and Hudson, all of whom brought her great joy.
Jean will be remembered for her kindness, quiet strength, and unwavering dedication to her family. Her legacy of love, compassion, and support will live on through the many lives she touched.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the caregivers and medical professionals who provided comfort and compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jean’s memory to Mercy Home for Boys & Girls.
